Just started using Mobile Key today - everytime I get near the garage, I get a notification on my phone that it woke the car up.

Is it true that, those "wake-ups" have an impact on the battery?

With that said, do you use the mobile key? Is it reliable? Appreciate the input.

Do you mean Phone as a Key (PaaK)?

The car will stop waking up after a few times so no impact to the battery. My home office shares a wall with the garage so my phone gets close to the car frequently and I see no battery drain.

I use PaaK exclusively and love it.

Yes, now I am seeing the PAAK acronym and it all makes sense. Thank you so much.

I’ve been using that exclusively for the past two years. It has had its moments, but I can probably count that one hand and it has never left me stranded.

I stopped using PAAK and turned off the puddle lamps in order to preserve 12v battery charge back when 2023 models were having the mysterious lock out problems. It appears that recent OTA updates were meant to fix this problem, so is it safe to resume using PAAK and the puddle lamps again?

No point or use for PAAK (unless you are a gamer). Especially in association w/ FordPass.
Have not heard of any problem w/ FOB. Been using FOB for 20+ years. Fairly certain others have been using FOB longer.

I use it but have the FOB in a Faraday bag just in case. Just had a "just in case" incident a week or two ago. Phone wouldn't work and the car would not take the backup code. No key in the car would have meant a tow.

I’ve been using PaaK exclusively for 15 months. No major issues.

I use the PAAK exclusively. I keep FOB hidden in car in a faraday bag as backup to phone and password and to hand to valets. No issues in 4 months of owning the car.

I find PaaK drains my phone battery but maybe I'm doing it wrong.

I started using PaaK exclusively before my car was a month old, so just over 2-3/4 years. The only real issue I ever had was when Ford’s servers didn’t recognize my email address as valid and locked the PaaK buttons out of the app. The PaaK itself still worked to get me into the car and start it. I only carry a physical key when taking the car for service and on trips and have only needed it at the service department (since I won’t leave them my phone). ??

I am going to repeat myself on saying not to just leave your key in your car. Thieves know way more about where to find things than normal people know about where and how to hide things. ??

Congrats on being a FOB maxi. But there certainly are points and uses for PAAK. Don't have to worry about keys in my pockets. And with my fobs in a Faraday bag stored away and not used, I don't have to worry about someone cloning the signal and sealing my car

I’ve been using PAAK exclusively for the past 2 years. However, in July I purchased a Faraday bag and keep my fob in the center console. The reason I started doing this was I went to the dealership to get my tire repaired, unexpectedly, and because I didn’t have the key, I had to surrender my phone so they could move it and work on it.

Not sure what you mean about being a gamer…
Well there is certainly a few good reasons to use PAAK. Most drivers always have their phone with them, so why bother carrying the FOB.
1) If you park your car for a run (or race), there is no more need to either hide a key, or carry it with you.
2) heading into the gym why do I want to carry a key fob?

20 years ago we did not have iPhones ;)
