The key came from eBay. Looks like you can get them for $23 now.

The programming procedure can be found in any of several youtube videos. Some are linked in this forum, or you can just google. The procedure is very easy, but you have to have two programmed keys to use it. That's why you do it before you lose one of your keys.
So if you only ever received 1 fob, you still have to get a new one programmed by the Dealer?

You should be able to get a second one for free at this point. I thought there was a CSP for that. I was able to get the second one for my first MME. The used one came with two.
The CSP doesn't cover all time periods. I only received a single fob with my car (Aug '21 build, job 2) and I've been unsuccessful at getting Ford to provide me with a second one at no cost.

My purse was stolen and in it was my Mach-E key fob (and iPhone, etc). Thanks to my Backup Start Code I was able to get home.
A replacement key is $300. Then it has to be programmed, which takes 1-1/2 hours and costs an additional $225, for a total of $525 for a replacement key fob. Gone are the days when you could go to the hardware store and have an extra car key made for a few bucks.
How much did it cost to have a locksmith to come to your house and rekey all your door locks.

Of course, the real reason I got the third key was because it was an F150 Lightning key and it has a frunk button. The geek in me needed that extra button. ??
You and me both. I think I've used the extra button 3 or 4 times total... But damnit, I have the ability...

LOL mine is in the safe without a battery installed. I used the button twice to play with it then put the key away. ??

Mine cost $28 and I programmed it myself in about 2 minutes. Much less expensive to do this before you lose a key, rather than after.
Details?

You can get a replacement key fob from a number of online sources for way less than $300. You will still have to pay dealer to program, but shop around multiple dealers, you may find one that will do it for less.
also you can even find one that has a designated frunk button!

edit: I should read the other posts before commenting because it looks like others have already said this

I bought the frunk button remote (Mach-E version) on ebay a year ago for $125. I programmed it myself and I've used the frunk button countless times. The one linked above on Amazon is a great deal if you don't mind the F150 trunk image!

Can you send a link to the one you purchased? I purchased one and had to return it as it wouldn’t link to the car.

Well she does live in California where everything cost more. And crime is on the rise. So, chances are it will happen again. SF and Oakland are bad for car break ins. https://sfstandard.com/2023/06/26/3...-rental-cars-break-ins-can-take-weeks-to-fix/

Agreed don't loose your keys, but a better message is buy a 3rd key fob. Usually you can buy a comparable key for under $75

If you have 2 you can self.program a 3rd.

Here is the link to a new aftermarket key for $25

That CSP ended like August last year.

I asked for the second, but never followed up.... don't need it really.
