The adapters are sourced from Tesla.
Tesla may have produced them, but Ford is the one who sent them out to Ford customers. Really getting sick of this poor quality control. Can't wait to hear how many Ford EVs this might have f*cked up the battery for too.

It is like amateur hour over at Ford. Like FFS, can they do anything right?
It’s their supplier: Tesla. ?‍♂?

I guess there is a bright side for our Canadian friends. They won’t get their adapters recalled since their batch hasn’t been shipped yet. ??

I would say the only thing they did not do right, and this is an assumption, is agree to use only Tesla supplied adapters when they make an agreement with Elon to open up the charging network. Or are you suggesting they are wrong to notify us right away and ship us a new unit upon discovery of a potential issue?

Issues don't always appear right away. Don't know what to tell you.
Agreed. The first two batches (April and June) are definitely affected. Unknown if August and beyond are affected at this time. ??

This is definitely a Tesla issue. They designed and manufactured the adapters. They provided Ford with the assurances and data saying that they are suitable for the purpose. While Ford has its problems, I am laying the blame for this on Tesla’s door step. ??

EDIT: Subsequent posts in this thread and in another thread indicate that the first batch recipients have not yet gotten this email. So perhaps this is an issue local to the second batch. ??

I’m curious whether any of the folks who have compared the three side by side have done any comparative temperature tests after say 20-30 minutes of high current charging. Of all the articles and videos I’ve seen, I don’t recall anyone mentioning operating temperature analysis. It seems as though the potential charge port damage is only theoretical, since I can’t remember anyone reporting here of charge port damage after use.
Ask @Mach-E VLOG .

It's both of them. Ford should have tested this, and not shipped it if it wasn't up to par.
This is likely a result of Ford having located this issue during long-term durability testing. We discovered lots of stuff after the fact with our products well after release. ?‍♂?

They said it might damage the charging port (likely because the adapters overheat). I see absolutely zero reason why a battery would be damaged. And I am guessing the problem is remote.

And what makes you think they didn’t and haven’t been testing it?
