@Mach-E VLOG Thanks for posting the video - as always, really great and I loved it. Two quick questions:
  • Any chance you could try BlueCruise 1.2 and lane change assist on a highway with heavy traffic (something like heavy rush hour traffic)?
  • Is there any way to adjust the tolerance of lane change assist to make it "more aggressive"? (That's probably not the right word, but I'm thinking of something analogous to the ability to set following distance with adaptive cruise control? In heavy traffic, you may not want the system to be as "shy" about making a lane change.)
Oh, and did your Ford friends have anything to say about frunk release for Job 1 cars? 😀🤞

We'll try some heavy traffic sometime this week. So far, it seems to wait about 10 seconds and then cancels the lane change if it can't find a spot. I don't know about where you live, but here, if I turn on my blinker and wait for a spot, I'll never get one in heavy traffic. If I see an opening I have a split second to indicate and go for the spot. Turning on the blinker early just gives the other person a warning to speed up! 😂

There doesn't seem to be a setting to make it more aggressive, but I'll try it in the different drive modes (Whisper, Engage, Unbridle) and see if that changes the behavior. I know that seems to have an effect on acceleration and braking with BC.

Patrick: My 23 also lets me know (suggests) if a lane change is available when approaching a slower car ahead of me.

And yes, no need to put the turn signal stalk down all the way, just give it a little tap and it will do the rest, including turning itself off when it gets into the other lane.

BC1.0 and BC1.2 are just convenience features, potentially making your drive more relaxing in light traffic. Not meant to be used if you want to get somewhere fast(er).

I live in the suburbs of Philadelphia and work in the middle of the city. I’m not TERRIBLY familiar with Southern California, but imagine if the City of Los Angeles had only 2 arteries to get into and out of the city and one artery was a 2 lane (in each direction) “expressway”, and the other was a 3 lane “expressway” 😉 Turn signals aren’t necessarily an invitation to close you off (that would be north Jersey and New York), but if I didn’t have the adaptive cruise set on the smallest gap possible, I’d be getting cut off incessantly. Even on the smallest gap, people go for it and nose on in 😀
I appreciate you taking the request and can’t wait to catch the next video 🙂

Try to test narrowing freeway lanes in big city driving. Blue Cruise 1.0 will stop working as the lane width narrows in larger cities. If you have the opportunity to run a side by side test.

Currently BlueCruise will not go hands-free when in the left most lane of I-5S in Carlsbad where there are concrete barriers quite close because of the new HOV lane construction. I'm curious if 1.2 will go hands-free in a lane with tighter tolerances. I'm guessing no, but a guy can dream.
Personally, I don't want to drive hands-free in a construction zone. I could not justify hurting a person or property using the excuse that the car should have avoided these because it was set to hands-free.

She doesn't like driving the GT as much because it is a bit too powerful. She has to drive with her left leg so it is a bit more difficult to finely control the accelerator. And for long distance, driving any car can be pretty uncomfortable for her. Smaller cars do work for her and she drives around town often, but just not really while filming. We had a Chevy Bolt for a week and she did most of the driving with that. We have a video review coming out with the Bolt in about a week or so.

Emma Berg replied to me asking about it a couple of months ago and said it was. Since then, Kyle Conner and I have both spoken to Ford people that said it would be coming later this year.
Even if it comes out in 2035, it will still beat to the market: Tesla FSD coming out of BETA, the Cybertruck, the Tesla Semi shipping in real volumes, Roadstar 2.0, settlements on Mars, rocketships replacing air travel, tunnels, and the $25k Tesla EV

They did build a tunnel in Las Vegas. If im not mistaken, it goes from one side of their convention center to the other 🙄

We got to try it out during CES. It is fun and pretty neat but I just don't see how it scales. Right now it covers just the convention center and on hotel but they are expanding it this year. We used it multiple times while Liv was in a wheelchair and it is not great for those with mobility issues.

Lane centering... to me the "move over" for other vehicles in 1.2 is more valuable than lane change. certainly hope 1.2 comes to the '21s
Has Ford committed to all Mach-e getting 1.2 if they have 1.0?

I don't think it has been in a press release or on their website, but the PR people that I've spoken to have said it will be coming. There was no exact timeline but I've heard summer or fall.
