I bet most of you devastated about the Facebook integration have Instagram, Facebook, or Whatsapp accounts.
Actually, no. I do not have Facebook, instagram or WhatsApp. In fact, this forum is the ONLY reason I broke down and FINALLY got a twitter account, and that only so I could post a picture of my Mustang Mach E in front of Iacocca Hall at Lehigh University and tag (or whatever the correct word is) Lehigh University in the photo. This forum is one of three “social media” platforms where I’m even moderately “active”.
I rarely even watch YouTube videos - I will watch some of the ones that are recommended on here, but that’s about it. My friends know that I refuse to watch any YouTube videos they send to me (it’s become a bit of a joke).

We keep hearing this and hearing this and hearing this. It’s getting very old. In the meantime, Ford keeps pushing out “must-haves”, like Notes, tic-tac-toe, and now facecrook integration? I didn’t buy my almost $69,000 car to provide facecrook with more data for to mine for advertising revenue now that Apple cut them off ?
I share your frustration on the delay of the car features we actually want, but I have to point out, there is 0 Facebook integration in the car. The app either for that matter. It just links you out to a different app. This is just an app update, has nothing to do with any software running in your car.

I'd much rather have the option of a remote frunk release and BlueCruise than shit like this.
FordPass is neither developed nor maintained by the same people who work on the Poweup program. Eliminating features or not developing features won’t make BlueCruise arrive any sooner. In fact, eliminating FordPass altogether wouldn’t even result in the slightest bit of resource availability for the OTA program.

Just not a fan of facecrook based on documented actions ?
So don’t use it. No one has to use any Facebook product to contact Ford. There’s just another method available now.
DON'T YOU DARE SAY THAT!!!!!!!!!

I always upgrade right away, but this Facebook BS has gotten me very annoyed. Sadly that annoys me more than the time zone not staying....

I know you don't "have" to use it, however its just the fact that its part of the app. Why is Ford getting in bed with freaking Facebook... If they start driving this "feature" it will be the QUICKEST way for me to never buy another Ford again in my lifetime. 100% will not support anything Facebook related, especially with all the data the MME can potentially already collect.
Such melodrama. If you feel that strongly, then simply delete FordPass. Just as you don’t have to use the Facebook Messenger feature to contact Ford, you’re not required to use FordPass at all. You really don’t even have to have it on your phone to drive the Mach-e. In fact, given the degree of angst you’re displaying over an optional way other people can use to contact Ford Customer Service, you might want to consider just selling your Mach-e. Used cars are fetching a fair sum atm. That will free you from the clutches of a corporation you’re still not dealing with by using FordPass.

Or you could just recognize this as what it is, an option to give people another way to get in touch with Ford Customer Service. Much ado about nothing

Because this thread has gone around this corner I’ll put my 2 cents worth in. Facebook sucks. I’m also not on any other major social platforms other than a few forums. Conspiracy theorist? Maybe so. Think it’s not happening at all? Don’ t kid yourselves. We have accepted being tracked like it's no big deal. It happens a little at a time. People that reject it are labeled. I also don’t feel the need to let people know what I’m eating for dinner and who I’m with while doing it. It’s nunyafuckingbusiness. I’ll see myself out.

Well, it seems like this thread has gone sideways. I do not want to add fuel to this fire (I know famous last words, right) however, I figured since I own a web application development firm and have worked in this industry for 14 years I should help clarify some things.
  1. Yes if you connect your Facebook account to an application then it can track your data to whatever extent the app allows (controlled by ford). However you must connect your FB Account for this to take place. Although some hate FB, others live in that platform, making this a relevant improvement for over 1 billion potential customers. If you are not a FB Fan don't worry about it.
  2. Tracking... Let's be clear, everything web-connected tracks you, not just your FB Account. This forum is tracking you (I count 13 different bits of tracking code exposed on the front end alone). The browser you are reading this message on is tracking you, your device (phone, tablet, or computer) is tracking you. Your ISP (AT&T, Verizon, Frontier, whatever) is also tracking you. 95% of this tracking is not for nefarious purposes, a lot of the tracking is required, for example this website can not render in your browser properly without knowing key details about your device, like screen size. We have to collectively move away from the anti-tracking mentality (because stopping tracking can't happen) and move to a transparency with the right to remove mentality. As a person I should have access to the data a company stores on me, and I should be able to delete that data (in essence resetting my record) l.
  3. As other people have chimed in, just because a small feature like a link to FB is released it does not mean that big features (like blue cruise has been delayed because of that). As was stated above, BlueCruis for sure has a very different developer group than FordPass. In addition to the people being different, I guarantee the coding language is different. This means they can't move a developer from FordPass to Blue Cruise. In addition, there is also a limit of how much dev resources you can apply to a single feature set, it is not a matter of throwing 1,000 more people at the same coding work means we get 100% more productivity.
Now I get that this is a Forum and it gives us all an opportunity to vent when we are frustrated by the lack of movement of features that we feel are important to our personal lives. However, lets all keep in mind that this world is much more complicated than any one of us can understand, and communicate our feelings with a bit of bit more etiquette so that we can be more productive rather than destructive.

Actually, I get that. There is more “integration” between the vehicle and Amazon with the Sync Alexa app. My complaints are that Ford has chosen to go with a company that factually has the worst track record for respecting user privacy and keeping tabs of content that people put on their platform (and no, I’m not saying they should be removing objectionable pictures of kittens, or grandma’s chocolate chip cookie recipes because someone has a tree nut allergy or is allergic to animal dander ?). Ford seems to think that partnering with Facebook or using Facebook services is a good thing that is enhancing their brand. To me, quite the opposite - it’s a bad thing that tarnished their brand. There are any number of less controversial platforms for customer engagement. Intercom for example. Or, if you want to “hook up” with a brand, iMessages for business (or whatever Apple calls it). I’m not an expert in this area, but others are. Ask them. My second point is PERCEiVED focus of attention on user experience enhancements. I understand full well that the group responsible for the customer engagement bit of FordPass is completely different than the groups responsible for the vehicle software. At the end of the day though, as a customer, I’m seeing “lots of love” for the app, and very little in the way of updates for the car. Ok, maybe BlueCruise is too big and complex a lift, but remote front trunk open? Is that too much to ask? They were able to get notes out. And tic-tac-toe. But not front trunk open? This makes me question who is prioritizing owner experience enhancements and if they have actually talked to any owners? I’d honestly like to know how many people have used tic-tac-toe or the calculator more than once?

If only they updated the actual car with OTA anywhere near as much as they do the app....

One quick final note, since I seem to have been the “instigator” ?
I’d ask that anyone not take my comments as directed at them or their use of a social media platform. My comments were only directed at Ford. I have many friends who use platforms like Facebook to keep family and friends updated on events in their lives, WhatsApp to stay in touch with far-away loved ones, and instagram to share pictures and stories of personal interest. That’s all great and I’m glad they can do that. I do have issues with the company Facebook (now meta), but not with the vast majority of its users ?

Im sure everyone is waiting for Tinder or Grindr integration.....
I’m pretty sure Tesla drivers are already on Tinder/Grindr, given how well FSD seems to be performing under “human supervision” ?

You'd think on the 35th attempt they could make it work on a Samsung S9+ from Verizon.

You win the internet today! Unfortunately you are likely wasting your breath (keystrokes?). I have tried to make the same point many times to no avail. Maybe your IT pedigree will help make some headway. ;)
