Hi all,
Just for reference - 2021 Mach E Select AWD - 23K miles. Purchased on June 30th 2021
I am in search for answers/opinions/options or any other similar experiences you have had
October 2022 - windshield cracked from debris and got this replaced with OEM glass by a reputable company
Soon after, i started receiving the front camera fault/pre collision assist not available message on the dash. Which would then disallow any cruise control/blue cruise, lane assist etc.
This would pop up, and go away daily. But eventually became permanent over the next few months.
I dealt with it a while (knowing now i should have notified the dealer immediately)
April 10th 2023 (20,118 miles)- I bring to the Ford dealership. 2 days later i am told to pick the vehicle up it is all fixed.
It became apparent very quickly, all the tech did was clear the codes and the problem persisted.
April 17th 2023 (20,460 miles) - I drop the car back off at Ford. A few days later, the tech calls me and thinks that the windshield was installed incorrectly, causing the camera to stop working and eventually burn out from trying to reset itself.
I then have their recommended glass company replace the windshield again (same company that completed the recall for windshields on this car)
May 31st 2023 - I finally get the call that the car was once again fixed with a new camera.
Again, it was clear the problem was not fixed.
I had started getting the camera faults on and off as i drove daily (I dealt with it and quite honestly just didn't want to be without my car AGAIN)
August 14th 2023 - i inform the dealer that the problem is still occurring and i reference that i have seen this problem in forums and there seems to be a service bulletin for it.
August 21st 2023 - (roughly 23,500 miles) - My car is picked up by the dealership.
August 28th 2023 - i am told there was a programming issue and they were waiting for a Ford hotline assist tech.
September 6th 2023 - i am told the problem was resolved and i can pick up the car
I drive off of the lot, get on the highway and *ding* the front camera fault pops right back up.
I turn right around and drop the car right back off at service.
*Since i returned within 10 minutes they never closed out this ticket *
September 18th 2023 - i am told they were again waiting on a Ford tech to help them
September 20th 2023 - at this point i am fed up. I have had a loaner from the dealer whenever they had my car which is the least that could be done.
September 25th 2023 - i go to my dealer to see what options they could provide me to get out of this vehicle. No options were given to get me into a Mach E that they have, and they would not buy the vehicle back from me
September 26th 2023 - i contact Ford directly to start the buyback process
October 2nd 2023 - Ford responds after reviewing my case stating that my car does not meet the state requirements for repurchase or replacement since there "was not enough repair attempts or days down during the first two years or 18K miles"
October 3rd 2023 - i start a case with BBB just cause it cant hurt.
I received another update today from the dealer that they are still waiting on programming help from Ford.
My Ford contact from the denied buyback request provides an update that "the part still hasn't arrived, due to still waiting on engineering trying to program the part"
So i sit here today and just want to see other's opinions or similar experiences of how i can proceed.
I have been insanely calm throughout this whole process but really am starting to lose it.
Thank you
