The biggest thing that I'm curious about, and maybe it has already been tested, is what if you don't full send the GT or GTPE, but go hard enough to still beat the 0-60 on the Premium. Would it still throttle at five seconds since not max power? Would probably be a little hard to figure out what that sweet spot is of being faster than the Premium but not going full power.

Unknown on the accuracy here but it looks like through the 1/4 mile the GTPE is still beating Premiums. https://www.0-60specs.com/ford/mustang-mach-e-0-60-times/

Edit: Well beating in seconds but not top speed, I should clarify.
I would definitely like to run it head to head with a Premium to see if just staying barely ahead would cut power.

no one has messaged me yet wanting to try it out on the air strip sadly

If I had a Premium and wasn't on the other side of the country I would be all for it. ?

Ha, Got premium AWD Ext 2 days ago. First electric vehicle. It is a fun car. I like it and the kids too.
I can only imagine the GT version of it and getting cravings for a GT :D

I see few of you upgraded to GT pretty soon. How did you find the GT and how it all worked out(most importantly financially)
GT is a fun car. Unfortunately, it's dangerous for me to drive it very often - speeding tickets... and not economical for 80 miles daily commute. So i had to sell mine and we keep my wife GT that I enjoy on weekends.

No need to get complicated for that test.

Go 3/4 throttle and you’ll see the grey bars show up at 72 mph.

Heck, go 1/3 throttle and the grey bars still show up at 72 mph.

5 seconds is only ONE of many triggers to limit power in the GT.

Short answer- it cuts power at 72 mph no matter what.

I’m agree with you about loosing power at nearly 75. I only forgot to mention that I describe not a drag racing. If I hit 80 and keep this speed some amount of time then want accelerating again, premium doing this faster and can hit higher speed then GT. In my scenario close to 100 GT is almost dead?

Here’s example of an ICE Toyota easy winning. Since then I never mess with Toyotas ?. In nearly the same situation the premium was the winner and ICE car driver gave up.
As embarrassing as that was, you should have moved out of the left lane and let him pass on the left. Passing on the right makes it even worse, IMO.

I wonder if they will change the 5 sec to 10 sec with an OTA. If Genesis has the 10 sec boost button...wonder if they will try to compete?
We could hope…… but most of that hope has died off the more time passes.

But even if they boost to 10 seconds it only fixes HALF of the issue.

The other issue is “off boost” power.

Most competitors have around a 70 hp difference between boost and no boost.

We lose about 150 hp. It’s “about” because it’s one more thing Ford keeps secret. Everyone else advertises power with and without boost.

Agree, but not at this situation. First take in consideration that on the camera the distance looks much different then it was in real. I didn’t have space to give him the way. There was very small gap between White Tesla and another car in the left line which isn’t visible on the video. Second, GT started to loose the power, but still had speed higher then cars in left line. He decided not to drop the speed, showed turn signal and changed two lines at that moment. From my side lesson learned and since then I know what 5s limit and lack of power means in real world. Honestly, I’m ok with GT has this limit. If I see on the road a teen in GT I would feel more safe then if I see the family with kids in Premium. Family daily commute car like Premium should have some limitations as well IMO.

Yeah it’s hard to win a drag race when you’re 8 car lengths back at the 1/4 mile.

Some still theorize that in a highway roll race the premium may be even or pull ahead from 70-100 but yet to be proven.

But if highway roll racing is your thing, the GT will disappoint.

1/8th mile? It takes a very very fast car to beat us there.
Exactly one of the fastest to a 1/8 mile. My wife's GTPE has been a blast red lite to red lite. Mopars just have so much traction loss it's 10 cars or more in the rearview mirror. We live in a rural area and several lites are about 600 to 800 ft lite to lite. It's been so much fun and thumbs up from most of the drivers.

I recently picked up a Premium AWD, ER and am loving it. However, also curious about whether the GT would be worth it or not. I have a 2023 GT ordered and it's slated to be built next week, so there's a potential for a December '22 delivery. While I'm 100% happy with the Premium I still plan to keep my GT order so I can at least go sit in it and give it a test drive to really solidify my opinion. The Premium is plenty fast, but after driving my brothers Dual motor Model 3 for a week, I kind of had it in my head that the Premium would be similar performance wise. But, heavier vehicle, larger size, and smaller motor, coupled with what I'm assuming is software limited acceleration, I feel like the Model 3 will snap your neck back with quick acceleration, while the MME will push you back in your seat and more gracefully get you up to speed. The Model 3 will be at a 100 in about the same time the MME hits mid 80's (none of this actually tested, just the "feel" I got from driving the two a few weeks apart).

All this to say, if the GT snaps my neck back upon acceleration like the Model 3, coupled with the light up pony, front facia, and interior upgrades, I MIGHT consider spending a bit more, but in reality none of that really matters when this is my commuter car / haul the kids to practices etc. So I would probably be better off just saving the money and enjoying the Premium as is....which lets face it is plenty awesome on it's own. I might have to get one of those after market light up ponies though :)

Gt will definitely snap your neck back faster than a Model 3 dual motor (non performance).

My neighbor had the 3 dual motor. Driving it is what got me interested in electric cars in the first place.

That's good to hear! Of course it'll make my decision a bit harder, but I still have that gut feeling passing on spending more $$$$ for a bit more performance likely isn't worth it. Especially with the 5 second limit, apparent (from the sounds of it) higher liklihood of HVJB failure, etc. But again, we'll see once I get behind the wheel. I also ordered it in Grabber blue, which I've actually never seen in person, but in the pictures looks amazing. My Premium is a Space White metallic that I have to say I always thought was cool looking in pictures, but have been really blown away with its "chameleon" capabilities under varying light. Thanks for your comment!

Yes considering the price now for a GT - may be keeping the premium is a wise choice financially. But everyones opinion will be different. I will stick with the premium. I will get GT wheels and tires (for about 2k) and the GT decal at the front of the hood(black front end) and call it a day :)
