Well, if anyone else butchers it like myself lol the part number is: LJ8Z5802038C Cowl Side Panel

I'm able to use my Ford Pass points, don't have much else to use them on, so why not! I just whiffed it with my hole saw... lol. Oh well, live and learn!
Pictures would be nice so that we can all laugh WITH you. I assure you, it wouldn't be at you!

Purely cosmetic and barely use the frunk, my wife said let it be, I said I can’t live with this abomination! I laughed and cried!!
Yeah every time you go to show off the frunk to a friend you would pray that they don't see it. I feel you, I would have replaced it as well. At $97 that's not a cheap screw-up, but I mean that's a tank of gas in my Audi, so meh! Glad to see you found the part!

Yeah, I might have thought different if I had to pay cash but since I can just use my Ford Pass reward points, it’s a no brainer!

sorry to hear you thrashed the cover..... you MIGHT want to cut out a whole section to expose the LVB connection points, and the HV disconnect relay? or fab a cover over the whole section with a hinge or something?

I have the kind of weird friends that like to see the covers completely off all the time so they can see the motor, and wiring, and borg-like tubing.....

I know how you feel. I’ve done worse. I probably would let it go but of course these are personal decisions. It looks like your hole saw danced around there. Did you use the pilot bit or try it without?

Not sure what he did but a few people have said they didn't use the pilot for fear of drilling into something below the cover. That's the exact reason I removed it to drill it out. With a pilot it wouldn't dance around like that.

definitely leave the pilot on.
it barely sticks below the hole saw..... the connection points are a good 2 inches below, no problems.

Thanks, I was wondering how deep you can drill. It’s very hard to control a hole saw without a pilot. I don’t think I would try it. I have a few diamond tipped bits for cutting into stone and they are like a hole saw but don’t use a pilot bit. They can be hard to control. There are some tricks that help but they don’t really apply to the MME situation. Other challenge with a hole saw, independent of whether you use a pilot, is to not continue pushing once you’ve broken through.

the plastic 'beauty cover' is not even 1/8" thick.... and it's plastic.
you hardly need to 'push' AT ALL, and you want to run the drill slowly so it it cuts rather than melts thru the plastic.

It helps the rock the hole saw slightly after you get the pilot thru so that one edge will break thru first, and you know when to let up pushing!

Did not use the pilot bit! As @DevSecOps said, my brother in law thought we might hit something below… definitely plenty of room when we used the pilot. Oh, well, live and learn! Thought the saw was going to jump out of my hands with how much it danced lol. Didn’t expect it.

I might have to step up to figuring out this whole video/youtube thing for the DIY stuff....

Good thing you have a BIL to hang it on!

While you await the replacement, have a little fun. Remove the cowl piece (beauty cover) and use your artistic talent to dance the hole das across the piece. You’ll have a memorable and unique art piece to put under your hood.
