For now, I plan to return the car to Ford before the 48th month - which means in 42 months - unless the resale value is higher than the residual. Which really means Iā€˜ll get another EV from Ford or someone else - I’m hoping that for the price we paid for our MMEs we get to buy something with 400-500 miles range.

I still have my 23 year old Porsche Boxster (base) and I will keep this for as long as I can. My last car before the MME was a Subaru Impreza Sport that I drove for 9 years!

I plan to get rid of it as soon as Ford brings out an electric vehicle that is actually comfortable to ride in, ideally an Explorer or a Bronco. I love my Mach-E for the most part, but part of me can't wait to get rid of this bouncy, jarring, uncomfortable car.

4-5 years. Whatever my next car is, it's probably going to be a ford, and it's definitely going to be AWD.

Do you plan to keep your Mach E forever? Or, is it something that you plan to have for 2-3 years until there are more proven electric options (eg Fisker, Rivian, Lucid actually deliver cars)?
This would be far more informative if you place a poll on the OP.

If the tax credits still exist, I will advertise the MME for at least MSRP before I actually physically have it. Once again, it could possibly be the same day I take delivery and I have a buyer.
Be careful. If you get audited, it will be hard to say you didn’t buy with the intention of resale if you sell it the same day you buy it.

Honestly at least until I title it and get the tax credit, after that it’s on a trial basis to see if it really works for me.

I have mixed feelings on it. if Ford announces some sort of higher-performance (Shelby branded like a GT350 or 500, perhaps) version, I would likely order one and trade or sell the GT, unless the price was outrageous. Otherwise... I am not sure. I tend to keep cars a long time but a BEV is a wholly different animal.

Related, no way in hell I would buy a MME from the Shelby American company. It would have to be Ford-engineered like the current GT500.

Just FYI - current Explorer has IRS (independent rear suspension) which would be a lot more comfortable than the Bronco, which has SRA (solid rear axle) and independent front, in addition to the all-terrains.

back on topic - we plan to keep ours 5-10 years, first BEV so waiting to see long term reliability and cost for maintenance.

Self-selected polls are useless (in comparison to a random survey of all MME owners). It is also more fun/interesting to read the anecdotes as well as hear people’s rationale for their answers.

This would be far more informative if you place a poll on the OP.

Now this is a man with a plan! And you'll probably have the first MME in Tooele County, won't you?

As for staying on topic; well, look at our other vehicles - hardly anything from this century; and we've had each one other than Flash at least 12 years.
LOL no, I saw my exact spec GTPE driving down a street about a mile away from my house about two weeks ago. Hopefully he or she was only visiting.

Good to know. I spoke to my "tax guy" and he said that I would need to be careful if I bought more than one and sold them right away.

Like I said before, I am only going to keep one of the cars but like you said, it would be advisable to keep it for more than a day.

I may end up keeping the MME anyway.

The main concern I have is Winter Range for the battery.

I guess I will find out what happens here shortly.

Never had a vehicle less than 7 years. But if technology leaves my current car behind, I’m in a place financially where I could change cars sooner I wanted to. It would have to be a pretty compelling change though (solid state batteries, markedly longer range and faster charging, etc). I’m too frugal to spend this kind of money on a whim.
That said, with the current resale market, if I found a GT-PE on a lot without a tragic markup, I’d take my MME to CarMax tomorrow.

plan to evaluate at 48 months where the tech is and how satisfied I've been with MME at that point.
