I try not to overthink it. On the weekdays if I come home with anything under 60%, I’ll plug in and let it top off to 85% overnight. On most Friday and Saturday nights I will go to 100% because the next day I will use 80 to 90% of the battery out in the country. 26,000 miles later I am still at 95.5 battery life showing on the scanner.

I’m a newbie owner so could you tell me how you go about finding your battery life? I don’t understand “showing on the scanner”. Thanks.

You need an OBD reader and an app. 99% of owners don't have any reason to do this.

I drive about 100 miles a day for work. I will charge mostly everyday for free to 90% while at work on the slow 6kw chargers. I also plug my car in when I get home most nights, but sometimes I do forget, what is ok since I normally never drop below 60% on a avg day.

I have a 2023 Ford Mach-E Premium standard range battery, RWD, and I’m charging much more often than I thought before I bought this EV, I would say 1-2 times per week on avg. I drive only 6 miles each way to and from work, and I am trying not to charge til I’m down to around 20%, up to 90%, unless I’m going on a trip and I’ll do a full 100%. Anyone else charging more often?

I travel to work all highway 4 days @ 23 miles each way. I charge twice a week. That is about what I expected.

I charge every night to 90% (unless I forget to plug my car in). I'm about 40 miles a day, and I can go most of a week without plugging in at home if I'm very forgetful.

Still, at 12 miles a day you ought to be able to go a couple weeks, unless you've got some energy hog in your procedures- maybe you're using a lot to get the car warmed up in the morning?
Have to watch that a/c button to see if it's ON. Turn it off on days below 70 when only outdoor air is needed. the a/c likes to be on many times when it's not necessary. I charge from 30 to 95% once every 10 days. I have the MME premium 4X extended.

I plug in every night. I drive about 145 miles daily Monday-Friday and maybe 100-150miles on the weekends. I charge to 100% in the winter and 90% in the summer. I have a Charge Point home flex on a 60amp breaker and set to charge between 10:00pm-6:00am so $0.053 per kwh in the summer and $0.0476 per kwh in the winter. 27 months of ownership and 90,744 miles.

Wow, that's some mileage for sure. I imagine you didn't just start this commute since getting the MME, have you found that having an EV for this situation has been better in terms of ownership costs? Obviously an MME up front is more expensive than getting something like a Camry, but as far as ongoing fuel and maintenance costs (oil changes and such), has the EV been better in your view?

Thanks, Rick! I kinda figured this out a bit later. I guess I can ask Ford to tell me SOH every time I go in for servicing. Do you happen to know the threshold at which a battery should be changed out - is that even “a thing”? Pardon my newbie EV question.

I'd be willing to bet the dealer will have no idea what you're talking about.

The battery is warrantied for 70% of original capacity for 8 years or 100k miles.

You can ask. Their answer will likely be "sure, that will be $XXX for an hour's labor".

Your battery has an 8 year, 100,000 mile warranty. Ford warranties that the battery will be at 70% of capacity, or more, AT THAT TIME. If the battery has issues, it will notify you, and will notify Ford.

The battery (ER) has 91kW, but really has 98kW, so Ford can release more of it before the 8 years / 100,000 miles, and will still meet the warranty.

So, in short, there is NOTHING for you to do, or worry about. Just drive the car.

23 extended range. I charge 2 to 3 times per week but only charge to 90 on the weekend. I charge to 60 during the week while at work.

Wow. So much time consuming thought. Plug in whenever I am home. Plug in wherever it is free. Why make it complicated. Mine is always full. At 90%. I am retired some days drive 5 miles some days 200 others. I get no Rate break so it charges whenever I plug in. The question I have is why not plug it in whenever I can? That way always "full" ready to go. I give it 0 thought. Did the same when working. Only thought would be if I went someplace often enough or Ling enough where it was free.

Currently ours is at 29%. I will wait until it gets down to about 20% before charging. We are retired and do not commute, so we usually charge ours to 90% approximately every 10 days.
