So looks like we'll need to run two cables to the back, one Cat5 from the OBD port to the IPMA harness, and one USB cable from the IPMA to the windshield for the head unit.
correct. And you need about 20 foot, so probably two USB chained together.

Wow, you have quite a bit of tire noise and wheel vibration on the freeway. Might want to get tires checked. I was most impressed that it moved over for merging traffic (unless you were initiating the lane changes). I also see the "notchiness" in the steering wheel. It should be inputting finer steering steps IMO (like every 1Âş instead of every 5Âş). Not sure if that's a limitation with how it interfaces or not. BlueCruise has very fine angle adjustments that are probably arcminute precision.
ford uses a completely different steering strategy than every other manufacturer. That is why this is a development effort. Ford’s method can’t be tuned using traditional PID algorithms.

My BlueCruise does okay with a single center stripe and a curb. I think the single center stripe has to be really clear, and it has to feel like there is enough space to not come close to a curb on the other rside or it disengages. Your lanes seem narrower and more challenging on the city streets. OpenPilot did a good job with the guidance (I wouldn't expect it to work in that construction zone, that's extra credit).
not only are the streets narrower but the F150 is much wider. Our MME does much better on BC than the F150.

First reported successful drive with a MachE on discord tonight. Still need to work through a bunch of vehicle specific settings, but it worked and controlled better than BC according to the report.

I've seen posts about using two 10ft USB cords.

Can't you just use one 20Ft cord? There seem to be a lot of them (USB C) on Amazon.

It's working better than BC in the F150 already so that's not a surprise. Ford is going to be big mad that for the cost of 18 months of bluecruise, there's a better operating product that works on all roads and follows traffic control devices. That's got to be embarrassing given comma.ai has a total of 25 employees and supports 250 vehicles.

Tons of great info in their videos from their launch show.

I have the Comma 3X installed and working in my 2022 Mach-E - using a F150 lightning port.

Thanks to the help from AjzRide and others. I drove all weekend with it and it's an upgrade from Blue Cruise.

The physical installation of the C3x hardware is very easy with the Q4 harness.

The software install is also easy using this custom URL: xxxx

Any of them. BC1.3 might be on par with OP for path planning, but it still has tons of limitations that OP doesn’t.

It's better than all of the Bluecruise I have tried, the major reason is that it is not restricted to the BlueCruise maps. Maybe a better way to phrase it, is it's like Bluecruise that's available on all roads. It engages instantly when you activate it from the steering wheel there is no "engagement time". BlueCruise is good, It's just limited to the predefined roads, I live in an area with limited approved roads so I notice a major difference.

Also, it auto-resumes from a stop - the stop sign recognition is not yet working for Mach-E, but hopefully soon. $0 monthly fee is also nice.

Wow, this is exciting!!!! I am really interested and thinking about getting one of these for my MachE. I live in British Columbia and the roads where we can use BC are EXTREMELY limited.

So for me to make sure I don't make any mistakes:
- we need to buy a Coma x3 device of course.
- Need to order it with a Q4 harness
- Buy 2x 10 ft USB cables (3.1 or 3.2 GEN2)
- And that is all, correct?

Now, was the install very difficult? specially bringing the USB cable to the trunk. I am not super handy and I am very scared of removing any trim on the car and putting it back on afterwards.

Thanks so much for all this beforehand. OpenPilot definitely sounds a LOT more promising that BC at this point and with the future pricing for BC. I agree that the biggest advantage of OP is that you can use it on "ANY" road.

This is awesome!! Thanks so much for this. Was it difficult to run the cables from the back to the front? or is it fairly simple?

Also, i noticed that your link for the USB C cable is amazon.ca so I guess you are located in Canada too!!! Any chance you are in BC?

Are there changes in how insurance works, if an accident happens when OpenPilot is in control.?
Does it violate the terms of the contract?

Just like BlueCruise, OpenPilot has a driver monitoring camera (that in my opinion is much better). You have to pay attention and if you have an accident you are at fault.

They're level 2 ADAS which is a classification system that says the driver is 100% monitoring it at all times, which includes paying attention. It's doing nothing more than you allow it to. The eye monitoring covers them 99.9%.

Even when it's able to drive you driveway-to-driveway, it will still be level 2 ADAS resting responsibility on the driver's shoulders. That doesn't mean it's not going to remain on par with or even surpass other's systems, but by keeping that classification of level 2, it's placing fault on the driver.
