Has anyone else had the experience where the car says "Pre-Collision Assist" or "Adaptive Cruise Control Not Available" due to a camera or sensor fault. I have started getting this intermittently just about every day now. I guess it is time to take in for servicing. Gonna suck cause not under warranty any more at 41K miles. I'm sure the dealer will take at least several days to "troubleshoot" the problem....at how much an hour?

Mine is doing it at about the same frequency as @azerik is seeing. It usually fixes itself within minutes. There have been a few drives where it was borked for the entire ride to or from work. I should probably have it looked at but I was hoping to hold off on it until I blow up the HVBJB again. ?‍♂?

Yeah the amount of effort I put into NOT going to a dealer is amazing. Speaks volumes to how well this system has improved in 125 years or so.

I have the same issue. Brought it to the dealer this week and they said that Ford is going to send an OTA update to fix it.

For what it is worth, mine did this since I got it 3 years ago. About 6 months ago it stopped fixing itself and now I know have cruise control at all. Dealer wants 1700 to replace the ipma. I first brought it in at 27k miles and they didn’t know what was causing it, but now I am out of warranty. So I am fighting with them to cover the whole cost since the dealer has evidence that it happened under warranty. So far ford has agreed to a financial share of 1100.

but I think the inevitable condition of intermittent failure is permanent failure.

Right now my record is 7 times in one day. I'm usually in the once per day category. It usually happens when I hit a rough patch of road; however, I live in New Jersey and that's about every 600 yards.

if you search around the forum.... you will find MANY threads on this topc. You *may* be able to 'fix' it my popping off the cover above your rearview mirror, wiggling around the mini-co-axial cable to re-seat the connection, and put the cover back on.

be gentle, the wires inside are TINY.

not necessarily , if it turns out to be just a 'bad' mini-coaxial connector that doesn't stay reliably connected because of vibration and hanging upside-down....

personally, I don't think it is the camera at all.....

My MachE is at the dealer right now for over a week waiting on parts. Lucky me, software wasn’t the issue. (Sarcasm) They have me in a loaner after complaining enough but it’s pretty frustrating. The dumb thing Ford did was expediting all the parts except one, it’s back ordered so I don’t know when I’ll get my car back.

why don’t you drive your car until the part arrives? Unless the alert is so bothersome you can’t stand it anymore.

When the other parts came in they took my car apart thinking they would get it the next day. I will bring it up again if they can’t get the part in soon. They’re going to push back on taking it apart twice.

Roger that.

It is a bit strange to think a busy Service Center would be able to just let a car take up space, taken apart, in the service bay for many days.

One might think they would want to park it outside in the lot somewhere and never have the patience to wait. I guess they may have parked it outside if all the work in just pulling off bits inside.

They are providing a loaner and I drive 600 miles a week so you would think it would be an incentive to get it out.
