Is the Mach-E really 7 years behind Tesla?

Polestar 2 is a car.
Right, and if it had 300 miles of range, more dealers, and was cheaper, I might have ordered one of those.

Why are you trying to talk me out of my First Edition? I clearly want the car or I wouldn't have ordered it.

Since when does Ford have to sell exactly what YOU want? News Fash: They don't make vehicles for your singular tastes. (And changing usernames doesn't change that fact).

Don't like what Ford sells? Then move on. Simple.
So does anybody think that my post about him being a troll and ignoring seem far fetched now

I mean I agree, I don't really like being told to effectively go away and not talk about the car I'm so excited to get.

Wanting more features is not the same thing as not appreciating the car you ordered. No need to be defensive.

I will take the drag
Nothing wrong with that at all. But you questioned why the E was going to have lower efficiency than the Y. Aerodynamic drag is a big deal whether or not you accept that. The big high nose of the E looks great and has a great muscle car look. It also has more drag. Everything in life is a compromise.

The Y does not have enough data to say jack on that yet. Want to cruise on a 12 speed it is power and hubs. Fiction is more of a drag and as time goes on efficiency can be impacted by increased frictions. But the heat pump is going to be a big deal; sure huge.
Actually, I have a fair amount of data on that. I have both a 3 and a Y and have tested HVAC efficiency between the two. In a garage with all else off, the Y HVAC uses roughly half the power of the 3's HVAC. This doesn't even account for the benefits of drawing heat from the motors or the battery to heat the cabin.

My on the road testing is less accurate due to a less controlled environment and my inability to test in ambient temperatures lower than 30 F so far. However, my results consistently showed that the Y HVAC was using perhaps 30% of the battery power the 3 was using in temperatures around freezing. In warmer temps where cabin cooling is required, the Y's advantage dropped to about 25%. (It's HVAC used about 75% of the power consumed by the 3's HVAC.) Again the caveat that my testing was not in a controlled environment and should only be taken as a trend.

BTW, I do have some small amount of training and experience in observing and recording data while in control of a vehicle, and in analyzing that data post-flight.

But the heat pump is going to be a big deal; sure huge.
This statement clearly shows you have no experience driving an EV in winter conditions. HVAC power draw has a significant effect on range. You don't have to believe me; ask anyone who has driven an EV in the winter.

Like not in the S, X and the 3;
The 3 is getting a heat pump shortly.

No one trying to talk you out of anything. Every single one of us wishes there was something else added or different to the mache. That is human nature. The fact is things are made in this world that are not perfect for each person's taste. You then have to figure which one gives you the most of what you as a consumer want the most.

You want the tesla things in a mache..........it's not a tesla. What are the reasons you are buying a mache and not staying with a tesla? I know grabber blue, list the things here. Something has to be the reason for the choice right?

Why do you seem determined to talk a First Edition orderer into thinking he doesn't want the car he ordered?

Why can't we like the Mach-E *AND* want it to be better than it is?

Why do we have to accept what is done as somehow ordained to be perfection and incapable of questioning or improvement?
Eh people just want to justify their choices don’t worry you’ll enjoy it. The SW features will come, Ford copies all its competitors. Otherwise it’s probably the most car-like SUV you can get and you’re getting a special edition which costs a bit more. If you’re getting X plan from MCOA then just sit back and enjoy the ride for a month and a half til your car gets delivered. Hopefully the range will be the cherry on top soon and we’ll get some cool reviews saying how smart we were for getting in early. That’s what I’m looking forward to.

Just because someone is pointing out some features or gimmicks that the Mach-E is lacking doesn't make them a troll. I find the comparison between the Model 3 and the Mach-E to be a silly one but others have made the comparison too.

I really want to see Ford step up in some meaningful way in the USA to promote the expansion of the CCS high-powered charging network and destination charging.
  • investing into a North American network provider
  • prioritizing station placements to enable key routes
  • destination charging program to offer wallboxes to places MME owners want to go
I also want to see Ford take seriously the performance gap to Tesla when it comes to road trip recharging and the opportunity to communicate with customers.
  • 30 minutes or less to recharge to 80% for the ER cars
  • commitment to transparency on de-rating the DC fast charging over time

They're only "Tesla" things because Tesla had them first and they haven't *yet* become standardized.

We don't call Air Conditioning a "Packard" thing. Because it became standardized.

I really think it's the "Tesla" part that make people touchy more than the actual feature.

Nothing would make me happier than for Ford to chip in and expand DCFC themselves, especially in rural areas. Rivian was making some rumblings about specifically targeting national/state parks for charging - I was always hoping Ford would chip in and help.

The heat pump is a *huge* deal. I really do wish the Mach-E had it.

I never said I didn't want a Mach-E. Ever. I wouldn't have ordered a First Edition if I didn't want the Mach-E so badly I wanted to be one of the first to have one.
