I have to ask, is the only model deserving of the Mustang name something that is a track-worthy car? The Mustang originally didn't start out as a track car. It started out as a small sporty car that was marketed towards women. It was small, functional, and fun. It has since morphed many times. People seem to focus on the GT 5.0 models with the V8 motors and less on the majority of models sold which were V6 or inline 4-cylinder turbos. Not to rehash the "not-a-Mustang" argument, but Is it really that much a stretch if the body has changed from a 2-door to a 4-door when the car has obviously gone through a ton of other significant changes? I get that a Mach-E which has a GT(PE) designation should perform like an ICE GT. But, again, the majority of ICE Mustangs sold are not GTs. If Bill Ford is okay with the car having the Mustang moniker, then maybe the rest of the Mustang enthusiasts should be okay, too.Anyway - my point is that you're right it's not a track monster and Ford knew that and decided they're fine with it. It's a really damn quick daily driver that's a joy to drive, and Ford knew that too. Everything else about what "MUSTANG" means went out the window with the MME - this isn't any different than the argument it's not a mustang because it has 4 doors, or cargo space, or an electric engine, or an automatic transmission, or ...
