Anyway - my point is that you're right it's not a track monster and Ford knew that and decided they're fine with it. It's a really damn quick daily driver that's a joy to drive, and Ford knew that too. Everything else about what "MUSTANG" means went out the window with the MME - this isn't any different than the argument it's not a mustang because it has 4 doors, or cargo space, or an electric engine, or an automatic transmission, or ...
I have to ask, is the only model deserving of the Mustang name something that is a track-worthy car? The Mustang originally didn't start out as a track car. It started out as a small sporty car that was marketed towards women. It was small, functional, and fun. It has since morphed many times. People seem to focus on the GT 5.0 models with the V8 motors and less on the majority of models sold which were V6 or inline 4-cylinder turbos. Not to rehash the "not-a-Mustang" argument, but Is it really that much a stretch if the body has changed from a 2-door to a 4-door when the car has obviously gone through a ton of other significant changes? I get that a Mach-E which has a GT(PE) designation should perform like an ICE GT. But, again, the majority of ICE Mustangs sold are not GTs. If Bill Ford is okay with the car having the Mustang moniker, then maybe the rest of the Mustang enthusiasts should be okay, too.

We had hoped to track our car and end up with a new hobby because of it. Very disappointed in the 5s rule Ford implemented, but it is still a really fun car to drive and we are very happy with it. Initial new model, stuff like this comes up. Being an EV, it is more difficult to engineer around the engineering. The MME in our garage will eventually go away, and the next EV will have been around for a bit, and perhaps one we can go to the track with.

Yet when I read the reviews and forum comments on the other competing E.V.'s, I don't come across potentially limiting Thermal Bottleneck concerns or severe limits (9 now 5 seconds???) on max acceleration nanny programming. IF IF IF the thermal bottle neck battery issue is as limiting as it appears to be, then the GT and GTPE are the least bang for the buck of the Mach-e models IMO.

Tracking your car is an incredible amount of fun and I highly recommend it.

That’s said… an electric crossover is the last type of vehicle I would do it in. Most road courses don’t even allow SUVs.

You’d have 100x more fun in a cheap Miata/FRS/BRZ, and you can easily mod it as your skill improves.

Read a little more I guess.

Most performance BEVs have some form of temporary “boost mode.”

Probably the biggest difference between the GT and the rest are that our limit wasn’t advertised and is still hidden (no clue what the off boost power is).

Someone I worked with a long time ago used to do it with an old type of Ferarri that he said was pretty cheap. I cannot recall which it was, but he had a couple of them that he used to race on the weekends.

And to top it off, there was video of Ford taking a GT-PE around a road course, bragging about how Unbridled Extend gives repeatable lap times, while making a journalist “sick.” This video was released shortly before the April 27 order opening date. They sure suckered us. ??

I still really like my car. I would just be less disappointed in it if Ford had been honest about the power and time limits instead of misleading us just before the order banks opened up. ??

Our only hope is hackers and modders. We should create a bounty program. Example: $25k for the first group to successfully crack the Ford security and enable the full potential of the car. $50k for the team that can do it in a reversible manner (e.g., so Ford can’t determine that you did it).

I’d likely contribute a few grand to that.
If such a thing were possible $25k - $50K is nowhere near enough. The hours/engineering talent required to do such a thing I would estimate to be around $200k - $300k.

You don’t need to cover the entire cost with the bounty. Remember, they get to sell it after developed.

Ford can't fix anything!
I agree. At this point I've lost all hope in getting my car back for at least another couple of weeks, maybe longer and the worst part is they received the backorder part, they just are so utterly incompetent they keep having to drive the car to different dealerships.

This is the last Ford I ever buy.

I feel sorry for everyone with all these issues, but from reading older post, this was expected with Ford's first EV. Tons of posts were raving about not buying an EV from other companies with a proven drivetrain and battery because a few panel gaps was a deal killer. The fact that Ford is clueless and has all these serious issues should not be a surprise. Again, sorry folks are having all these issues, but the car has only been out for 2 years.

And a new challenger enters the fray - Polestar 3 from Gothenberg, Sweden by way of Ridgeville, South Carolina. Weighing in at probably 5800 lbs but sporting 510/671 hp/tq in the Performance trim. And adaptive dampers. ?

p.s. - with a rear biased awd setup that features torque vectoring on the rear motor.
