Great specs for its diminutive size; ideal urban EV. Of course I detest the EX30's Tesla-speedometer-center screen implementation and lack of a driver display/HUD. Ford needs to drop the price of the Select below $40k imo; $39,999 would be more competitive. MSRP is still too high.

- Single Motor EX30 RWD with 275 mi range, 69 kWh battery; 0-60 in 5.1 secs starts at $36,245 (incl. destination, etc..)
- Twin Motor EX30 AWD with 265 range, 69 kWh battery; 0-60 in 3.4 secs starts at ~ $46k (incl. destination, etc..)
- Has a frunk!
- No $7500 tax credit unless leased

We got to see the EX30 in September at a local Volvo dealer. We even did a video on our walkaround but not it is out of date since people now actually have driven it.

My impression is that it is much smaller than the Mach-E when you see it in person. I think it is a great value and we put a reservation on one when it was first announced. My biggest complaint is the lack of a driver's screen. I really need to get behind the wheel and just feel how it drives.

I'd love to see your walkaround video! Drop a link?

Here you go. We didn't even get to get in it. We tried but the Volvo reps said no. I'm hoping to get a better look at the LA Auto Show next week.

The spec that caught my eye is storage behind the rear seat. The Mach-E has decent storage but it's not huge in my opinion.

The Ford specs list the Mach-E with 29.7 cubic feet behind the rear seat. The EX30 specs list 11.2 cubic feet behind the rear seat, even including 2.2 cubic feet under the load floor.

Perhaps to be expected with the EX30's small dimensions, but still a major trade-off if comparing with the Mach-E.

One of the nice features of my husband's Volvo C40 is having Google maps perspective view on the driver display and an overall map view on the center screen. It makes it much easier to see where alternate routes may take us, while still simultaneously having the perspective view I usually want while driving. The EX30 loses this feature, in moving to only a single center display. The rest of the car looks fantastic, but definitely not worth replacing one of our current cars to get.

I dropped a deposit on one. I'm not 100% sold yet, but we'll see after I test it out. It gets the federal rebate here in Canada.

A few things I like: no space-restricting centre console; decent range and charging speeds; heat pump.

One thing I don't like: rear wheel drive. I could handle the snow with front wheel drive, but the lack of this option forces me to upgrade to AWD.

I'm impressed it's able to get 275 miles on just a 69 kWh battery.

Until this point, the only other car I have considered is an M3. I’m not in the “never Tesla” camp, but all things being equal I would prefer to avoid Tesla. This is the first car that has sparked my interest. The MME is my commuter car, so I don’t mind that the EX30 is smaller. I’m not in the market for a while, but will be interested to test drive this one when I am.

That range with a small battery doesn't seem realistic, as well as the acceleration. It's a smaller car, but still looks like a bit of a stretch.

Having driven the C40 twin as a rental for a few weeks Volvo has put together solid car with a few quirks. Hopefully these won't have the drive line vibration that the three different c40s I have driven have. Also hopefully rear visibility is better than the C40. at 5'10" I can't see out the back window of a C40.

Drive one first they are considerably smaller than the MME. The C40 and xc40 are roughly MME size. The C40 and xc40 have also recently been updated to have about 260 miles range in AWD and around 300 in rwd

My observation from driving the car around is range is optimistic and it did around 200 miles at highway speed.

One last point the thermal management of this car is wayyyyyy better than the MME and the C40 absolutely rips on the highway.

Heat pump + lower curb weight + battery chemistry?

Heat pump isn’t going to affect EPA range.

That 0-60 is impressive…….. but why do manufacturers keep making fast but odd looking BEVs?????

It’s like everyone at the same time forgot what a fast car is supposed to look like.

Fast cars usually look……..fast.

It will pain me in more ways than one to have to see those taillights. ?

Even though there is supposed to be standard as to how to measure how much trunk / boot space you have (SAE J1100) manufactures are a bit fast and loose so you really have to measure it for yourself half the time, but the storage space on the ex30 is small even compated to its platform siblings.

The car is a lot shorter than the mach-e so you are going to get a lot less in there, it all depends on what you a trying to carry, in reality size wise the ex30 is in the class size below that of the mach-e and should be compared to a bolt euv when it comes to overall dimensions.

Design is always going to be subject and I think it looks nice and the perfromance trim shows how bad ford dropped the ball with the GT trim the tesla approach to the interior is a complete deal breaker for me, thankfully a few manufactures are starting to roll back on the bean counting passed off as minimalism. Personally I would rather own its platform sibling in the smart #1 brabus as it has a drivers display and a hud but that wont be coming to this side of the pond.

You may like how it looks (that’s fine, looks are subjective), but you can’t convince me you think it looks how a a fast car looks.

It’s kinda like this video of the EV6 drag race. One of these cars looks out of place…….
