I don’t think it’s the number of hours that need to pass for BC to start working, it‘s the number of restarts. If I remember correctly, I had to restart my car several times before it appeared. This is likely why the TSB now says to reset the APIM after the updates are done. If waiting 12-24 hours was required, the dealer would have a hard time charging the .5 hours to Ford for testing BC on a highway.

Who are you talking with when you call your dealer? Ask for the Service Manager (look his/her name up). This isn't an optional thing.

Getting BC done now with all other updates to unlock 1.7.1 stuck. Making great progress!

The code might be vastly different and there may be a difference in the magnitude of the update, but the idea of plugging something in and following prompts is the same...

It is about the amount of time a service department is tying up resources, not the concept of performing an update.

Wasn't the 1.7.1 update a sync update? This caused an issue that took almost 6 months to fix because they couldn't get that OTA?

And the risk ended up being low (because although people stuck on 1.7.1 sucked, it ultimately was survivable, the car was drivable, etc.), and the fix is to go to the dealer....so, I guess you're agreeing with me? Cool.
