Day 9 update. No BC, I brought the car home.

In speaking with the dealer they now have 5 cars in roughly the same condition as mine. They have all gone through the procedure and have ended up without BC available. (they land on Sync version 358, no updates left to do in FDRS or one GWM update they can't get to work) Their techs have spent "all day" on the phone with the hotline and they don't have any current strategy that solves the problem. The techs have freelanced PMI updates but to no avail. I gave the service manager the names of the dealers mentioned in this thread that had some measure of success. The dealer will call me if there is a path forward and I'll bring the car back.

The good. At least the car still works. (I know, low standard) It's drivable and it looks like everything other than BC is ok.

The Bad. The dealer said the hot line told them there were two people working on this full time at Ford looking for a solution. (face palm time) I'd hope this a problem that warrants more than 2 people at Ford working on it full time.

The Score OTA 0, Dealer 0, time to try a third way.

FDRS in my case shows an update available for the GWM. The dealer can't get that to work. At this point, I'll try the FDRS route with the hopes that I can get the GWM to update which will then call for the APIM update (364), then two resets and....

My dealer has had 1 successful install of 21G01 and 3 cars (including mine) that failed to accept the BlueCruise programming.

I am glad I got my car back in working order though. It was going to start costing me between $40-$80 per day in fuel and an extra hour commute time for each day it remains there hoping for someone at Ford to figure out how to program modules.

I was 50/50 on it being successful anyway. They will figure it out someday. Meanwhile, I will keep driving the old school way and love every minute of it. :)

Seems like OTA is the way to go, seeing more success there

A new tech bulletin has been posted with a related CSP 22P08 that includes detailed steps for performing the gateway module (GWM) update successfully. This may be useful information for your dealer. Also there is a new version of FDRS software out in the past day or two, your dealer should update if they haven't already.

There are important steps about waiting while using a USB drive to do updates, sometimes you must wait 5-10 minutes after it says a step is complete before continuing to give the files time to apply in the background.

That bulletin also mentions the importance of having the 12V battery be fully charged during updates, if it's less than 80%, it should be charged fully before continuing. Updates will not be successful if a battery charger or power supply isn't being used, this is very important and some dealers aren't doing it.

Yep, while doing the 1.7.1 Fix, my dealer did not put the 12V on a charger and it completely discharged during the attempt.

Is the general thought that if we bring our cars home from the dealership without BlueCruise, say we're on 358 like many have reported, that at some point we'll get the rest of the update via OTA and it will eventually lead to BlueCruise?

No one can possibly know that. While it seems logical, today's information, i.e. a procedure to update the Gateway module to the latest BlueCruise maps, may be the missing factor in the failures to update to BlueCruise at the dealerships.

Fair. I guess when I hear from my dealership today about picking up my car, I'll ask them to verify that it's on Sync 364 and says Hands-Free. If not, I'll suggest it's not fully completed and send them the GWM paperwork. Thanks!

Or say "did you successfully drive the car on a BlueCruise highway, handsfree, where you were able to keep your hands off the steering wheel for over 10 seconds without any warning to put your hands on the wheel?"

I'm having issues with updating IPMA on a Job 1 vehicle. Would someone who successfully installed all the blue cruise updates on a Job 1 vehicle private message me their VIN so I can compare the differences? The theory is that part of the multi-module update didn't really update on mine.

Nice. Thankfully my dealer’s main EV tech and I have come a long way. He’s quite good now. But I’ll keep this handy juuuust in case.
In looking over all the TSB and updates, Ford sure did not make it easy for this car to be updated. They should have planned for a central port to feed updates to all the modules instead having hidden access ports behind multiple panels. Unfortunately, my dealership is having a big problem with the Job 1 Mach-e fixes and updates. I will be dropping off a packet of all the current TSB's and such later today to them. I hope they just don't trash it.

To what are you referring?

To perform most updates, they use the easily-accessed OBD II port.
To update a few things, they use the easily-accessed USB port.

To do most updates, they need to put the 12V battery on a 12V supply. THIS is the only thing they designed poorly.

That _should_ be sufficient, but you can double check without your car:

1. Have someone here check for FDRS updates. You should have basically none pending.

2. Log into your Ford account with a desktop browser, click "connected services", and verify your Blue Cruise subscription started (it should be recently activated)

Yes you should get the OTA's still. They will get pushed to your car, and step 1 of the OTA is to inventory what your software levels are and see if any of the files actually need updated. If its already there it will just skip it. Early updates would give a failure notice if it was already done, but I'm thinking maybe that will be resolved in the final release of them and will just show a successful message, or nothing at all if it is not needed.
