I’m about to order a 2025 GT and am on the fence about the panoramic roof. Just wondering if anyone who has the glass roof would recommend otherwise. Also curious if any uses a sunshade on the roof.

I have a panoramic roof in my current car but always leave the built-in shade closed in the warmer months. Wondering if I should skip it this time.
I live in Texas - so I've had easily 150 days in the car with days over 100 degrees the past 3 years. It's one of the coolest (temperature) cars I've owned out here. And mine is dark mattery gray (which is just barely on the charcoal side of black). The glass does a pretty admirable job of heat rejection.

Two rock chips right at the edge by the wind shield causing two replaced pano roofs each year. One of the repairs took over a month because of lack of supply and dealer buffoonery. Not worth it, but if you do get it look to get extra protection for the leading edge.

I have had mine since 2021 and love it. I have not noticed any heat issues. I did get the shade for the first summer, but haven’t put it back in since. In my opinion it brightens up the cabin.

Thanks for the great feedback everyone! I don’t have rear seat passengers very often, so I’ll just go with whichever option is more readily available. Can’t wait to get one!

I got Star White color to reduce heat. I think the pano roof is great, its the next best thing to a convertible.

I wish I just would have waited for the Cyberster instead for an even more airy feel. But I do not regret the panoramic roof. Not that I can see anything through it, but it gives an overall spacy feel to the Interieur.

We have two 2021s. Both with Pano roof. Neither gets warm so a shade isn’t a concern. The IR reflective coating is top notch. Since we almost never have anyone in the back, and it can’t be seen from the front without craning your neck, it’s like it’s not even there. With that said, I really don’t care about having another, because I never see it. It’s done nothing for me. It could magically be replaced with a metal roof and I wouldn’t even notice until I wash the car next time. It was detrimental once. Somehow one of the back corners chipped causing the whole roof to have to be replaced. It was a PITA working through my dealership, insurance, and the local glass shop the dealer contracts with. With a metal roof, worst case might have been a small paint chip, not a whole roof replacement.

I was disappointed when Fisker flopped. That had “California Mode” that opened the top glass almost all the way to the rear, all side windows and the rear glass as well. All at the press of a button.

I don't care for sun roofs so I thought this roof would be a problem, but I have had no issues. In fact since I live in a colder climate it works great in the winter. The other day sunny but 37 degrees, but I didn't need the heater.

My first Mach E had the panoramic roof. Forgot I even had it unless I looked up (which I rarely do while driving), or I had to replace it (which happened twice). My current Mach E (24 GT) doesn't have it, and I don't miss it. No regrets.

@MP7 , something that no one mentioned before is that the pano glass makes the top of a Mach-E all cohesively dark / black. If you opt for no pano and buy a non-black color, you will end up with a very ugly transition from piano black side trim to a lighter colored painted roof. So some end up wrapping the roof in black to eliminate that condition.

Take a look at one without and you’ll immediately see what I’m talking about.

I bought two Mach-Es. Both had / have it.

I am definitely in the minority here but I prefer NOT to have a glass roof.

When I got my '21 GTPE, the only way I could get the 360 cameras was with a glass roof and I really wanted the cameras. I had no heat or cold issues with it but did have sound issues. One, I can hear wind noise coming from the front leading edge of the roof where the glass meets the windshield. I did fill that gap with a rubber tube which helped. Two, having a glass reflective surface above my head messes up the audio from sound system. Reflections from the dash tweeters firing up towards the roof was an issue for me (yes I am weird about this). For most of the three years I had my '21 the glass roof was completely covered with 1/2" closed cell foam and a fabric shade. This mimicked a headliner and quieted down all wind noise and improved the sound system. Yes I know there are glass windows to the side of me but nothing I can do about it.

As with Steve (HuntingPudel), and Joe (JoeyD), when we were looking for our '24's, it had to have a steel roof. I'm very happy Ford finally made the glass roof a separate option. I know one of Steve's reasons was the extra weight. Joe's reason was he had to have his replaced from rock chips that eventually cracked the roof in his '21 and he said it was a pain to get replaced.

Agree with this. Had glass roof on my Tesla and never noticed it either. Well, except for the big chip from a rock I got on it…that I couldn’t stop staring at….

I can’t say I noticed any difference with temperature either.

I think they’re more enjoyed by rear seat passengers.
Even some of them don't really notice it. I asked my kid what they thought about having a glass roof given how they've experienced the one in my current car and they were like, "Yeah, I really don't care."

A proper sun/moon roof maybe... but the glass roof is overhyped I think.

Thank you for asking this question. I thought I was alone in not preferring the sunroof. Turns out I have peers! Hooray ?

Completely agree with you Steve. When you order an ICE Mustang, you have the option of a black painted roof which as you say gives you that all black cohesive look on the top. That is how I have ordered my ICE Mustangs and when I got my '24 Mach-E in Glacier Gray without the pano roof, the very first thing I did was have that roof wrapped in gloss black. The top looks just like your car now!
