My 2022 MachE range is showing much lower - 221 miles on 90% charge even in very warm temperatures.

The range indicator is only educated guess. It factors in the type of driving you’ve been recently, terrain, temperature, and other factors as well I’m sure. If you’re going over 65 or up the side of a volcano, it’s going to trend down.

Don’t equate that funny number labeled “Range” in the car to how far you can drive. Pay attention to % charge and MPK.

truly. i wish they replaced the GOM with actual current kWh and the current trip mi/kWh and let us guess on our own.

The guess o meter is somewhat absurd.
Look at mine:

At first, I thought you were throwing some shade at her range estimating skills, especially when she's hungry. But then I saw the GOM photos below and realized you were just giving some solid evidence to back up your claims. ?

My GOM did a fabulous job on a planned trip over major mountain pass in CO. I was curious how the improved accuracy would do in summer conditions. Overestimated by only 2% points of remaining battery on the way there and underestimated remaining battery by about 7 on the return. Last year the altitude had to be my own calculation. Thank you Ford!

Do you have this permanently on your clipboard for easy copy and paste? Winter's coming, so you might want to think about doing that.

Your GOM looks way better than mine. Not sure how accurate either of them are. I don't trust mine with my kibble. ??

The good thing is (if you have an ER) is that each % is nominally good for 3 miles.
That's so much easier. I usually have to take my shoes off to do the math.

I'm way behind on understanding all the dynamics of range so I'm starting to learn a lot from reading posts like these. That being said, I'm curious from all of you that know a lot more than I do, your reaction to the performance I had yesterday. I have an extended range AWD. I was disappointed with the lower actual range miles I got for my long drive (even with driving highway speeds) I had higher hopes. However, maybe it's my expectations that are off.

Started at 100% - 304mi
Distance - 180mi
Ending range - 66mi
2.6mi/kWh
Energy use - 2% climate, 97% driving, 2% accessories, 0% ext temperature
Accel - 98%, Decel - 97%, Speed - 25%
Ave speed - 75mph
Ext temperature - 60 degrees

Thoughts?

I haven't taken enough longer trips to have a better sense on planning and expectations for charging. Is the trip planner pretty accurate for incorporating necessary charging?

Appreciate any help on this.

I've had my car for over 2.5 years, and have the same spec Premium 4X. I average 2.7 mi/kWh for highway speeds in the summer (2.4 in winter). So at 2.6 you're in the right ballpark for 60 degree temps.

I use ABRP and PlugShare instead of the onboard nav for trip planning. But I do find the onboard nav is pretty accurate at SOC estimates since we got the updated software that adjusts the range based on the navigation destination.

If you want better efficiency than 2.6, slow down from 75 avg (which means you were driving fast some of the time) to closer to 70, or 65. I get around 2.9 doing 73 on the expressway.
