Odd.
We had our 2019 Bolt battery replaced without a hitch. Of course it was not necessary, but they replaced it just the same. They even fixed the loose front bow tie, no question, no hassle, free of charge.
Odd.
Years into the recall, 2020 and up had the recall changed to a software only update.

I can see the same being a possibility for RWD only MME. The recall becoming software only.

Any other ’21’s on the original HVJB thinking if i take this in, the new part will fail me? Just seems when i go its another chance for them to mess something up.
This has certainly crossed my mind. 38,000miles on my FE without issue....

I never even got the windshield/roof recall completed. Mostly because my dealer didn't want to do it.

Being just a RWD I don't see a need to jump on this. I will let all you people be the guinea pigs while they perfect the replacement process. :p

Same for our early production 2017. Every cell tested out OK, but still replaced. Cannot beat getting a new HVB after four years and 50K miles. Repair went flawlessly in one day.

Thanks for the post, called my dealer this morning and take my '21 GTPE in next Wednesday. Hadn't received the actual 2nd letter yet stating parts available.

Are you still on your original HVBJB?

I happen to have a confirmation today from a face-to-face with a qualified EV tech that this recall involves
- replacement of the interior HV battery junction / contactor assembly after dropping the HV battery, which then goes back into the car (same HV battery).
- a new BECM module
- a new SOMDBC module
+ some FDRS reprogramming

See the Tech instructions PDF in the first post. Only the HVBJB is replaced. The other modules are just programming updates not module replacements.

I understand. I also was able to see what the Service Tech was guided by the system to order on his PTS SSSC screen for this recall.

Perhaps there are different component lists for different Mach E cars? I'm just guessing here... this Service Tech and this EV Tech are both pretty good...

In the end, what matters to me is that the Ford recall is completed, with quality... whatever gets changed out.

Different HVBJB based on trim. All other parts are the same for all trims. Maybe they were conflating replacing the bolts with replacing the modules.

Here's the full labor and parts list from the other attachment in the first post.

Yes, never replaced HVBJB, at 20k miles since Oct '21, never had issue. Full throttle semi frequently, though rarely fast charge. Dealer said plan a full day to replace and update the other modules, though would likely be done sooner.

I appreciate your expanded information and I will give you, and the two good workers I have dealt with, all the credit for willingly sharing knowledge.

your dealer’s service department is staffed by a bunch of bozos. I scheduled my replacement for just after the New Year and the service advisor was game for it. We’ll see how it all goes.

There can’t be many of us 2021 MME GTs with the original HVBJB left! Last tracker I saw for 2021 GTs was like a horror movie as the SVS Monster picked us off one-by-one.
Not just GT’s, premiums are getting appts also. I dont think dealerships really care about priority.

if your on the recall list ”most” will get you in as soon as possible. I texted my service rep at a dealership 1200 miles from home, as my car is now in Fl, and car is scheduled for Jan 4 replacement and 2 days reimbursement for rental if no loaner available.

Check on that rental reimbursement. When I had my car in for the windshield/sunroof recalls, Ford corporate said they would provide a rental. When I went in, service manager said Ford only pays $35/day for rental and the cheapest rental from the local Hertz (apparently Ford is only contracted with Hertz) is $85+tx a day, and that I would have to pay the difference of roughly $65-$70/day for an unknown # of days (they weren't sure how many days it would take to do the recall).
So make sure you get something in writing that the rental is completely covered.
