I love my Mustang Mach E. I've now owned two of them. My first one was a 2021 GTPE. Had for 33,000 miles and three years. Windshield was not the best but not as bad as my 2024 GT. I have have the car on the road for two weeks now and 800 miles. There are so many pits in the glass it is unreal. I have had the whole car wrapped in PPF to help with chips. I do NOT ride peoples butts either. I am extremely upset with this. There is no reason this should be happening. It is worse than my 33,000 miles glass on my old one.

interesting, I didn't experience any pitting on my 21 or my current 23. Most of my driving is around town so that may be a factor for me.

40,000 miles on this one.
I think it's softer for more sound deadening. My RX450H also has a sound screen windshield and it's just as soft.
'Funny' thing is it's not pitting, it's faint scratches all over.

Just curious why you still have a mach-e when all you do is complain on here
For personal reasons im not selling mine just yet. I dont want to complain but, @Ford Motor Company turned me into that person. I used to love my mme and loved talking about it, defending it to Tesla owners, etc. Sadly, Ford has turned this whole experience into a terrible one for me. Im planning on selling my mme in Q4 2025. Until then I will complain and be bitter about my mme.

I paid a lot of money for my mme as one of the early adopters. So having issues and lack of support from Ford really makes me mad. I spent good money with Ford and they think its okay to not communicate, put crappy parts in the mme, and in general not provide a good experience. I have the right to complain about it as long as Ford has my money.

I have a 21GT with 38,500 miles. Have replaced the windshield twice. Safelite did both. First one was OEM, the second was not. Have two hits now that have been repaired and I am not spending another dime for a third one until I absolutely have to.

Yea mine is all in town too... I just don't get it. I have a 2024 Aviator too that has the acoustic glass too and that one is hard as a rock.

Ford's glass engineers should all be fired!
They get the acoustic windshields from a third party. The specs are for acoustic glass windshields that meet NHTSA standards and have a specific shape.

If you browse any recent model car owner’s forum, you’ll see a lot of complaints about chips, cracks, and the car being a magnet for rocks. This happens to all manufacturers.

Acoustic windshields can reduce exterior noise by about 25 decibels, which is a big deal. You can try replacing your windshield with a non-OEM, non-acoustic glass and see if you get a reduction in rock pitting, but I’m not holding my breath.

I think a lot of the rock issues might be because of where you drive and the road conditions. I’ve been driving my Mach-E for almost 4 years now and I haven’t had a single chip, crack, or pitting on the original windshield (knock on wood). The difference might be that I don’t drive on freeways (there aren’t any here), and our roads are in great shape.

I had a 5-year ceramic coating applied to all of my 2023 GT’s glass. So far, so good. We’ll see how well this “sacrificial layer“ performs over time.

This ^^^

I laugh when I read this stuff, because EVERY vehicle brand has these posts. EVERY ONE. Oh, do the thin paint one, please!

We cracked our 2022's windshield on a recent trip, had it replaced by insurance, no cost. Years ago I added a zero glass rider on all my vehicles. Since then, I've replaced 3 as I recall.

We were driving out west with the Lightning in March and when we got to Wyoming they put gravel on the road. Windshield was fine, but front bumper had chunks missing.

I also have a ceramic coating on my glass (Adam's Graphene Ceramic Glass Coating), and zero noticeable pits or chips at 16 months in. (It's about time for me to do another coating). But I don't know that the ceramic is going to help much with chips, as I think its real function is its hydrophobic properties. Although I did take a rock to the windshield the other day. I heard it, but I couldn't find where it hit upon closer inspection, so I guess it's possible that the ceramic helped mitigate damage...

My previous car was a Honda and had the same issue. I don't like it, but it's not Ford/Mach-E specific. I have my 'windshield guy' on speed dial.
