Update:

I've now also seen the blue bar on the right (in the same location as the image I posted to start this thread) while the nav was indicating a left turn. Thus it isn't indicating a lane change or a turn coming up. Its just some display artifact.
Was it a left turn from one freeway to another?

I get that blue bar all the time and it is consistent. Only while using NAV. Only when a junction is coming up from one freeway to another OR when my freeway exit is approaching. Always 1/2 mile before the junction/exit. Never on surface streets though.

For me, it doesn't seem random at all. I have grown used to it and can predict when it will come on every time. There have been a few times where I was using Adaptive Cruise and Lane Keeping and wasn't paying attention and that blue bar snapped me back into reality. "hey dude! Your junction or exit is coming up! Get ready!"

More than a few times I have had problems moving over to make my junction or exit because other drivers form a cocoon around me. I think they are checking out the car. I see them taking photos, pointing and waiving etc. It's kinda cool but also kinda a nuisance because I need to get over and make my exit.

Nope this was on residential streets and the blue bar would pop in for a second or so and pop out not in any repeatable fashion.

Have you seen it on the left of the display at all? It has only appeared in my car on the right and it isn't very predicable at all. Sometimes it shows up for less than a second and other times its there for 10s or more.

OH ! here is the explanation! Just RTFM! It would be great though if they said what information a blue bar is. Apparently it is information you dont need to know.

No. I only get it on the right and only under those certain conditions. Must be a glitch in the software I guess. ???

So it's not just a visual cue telling the driver that an exit is nigh? Seems like it comes in the same time as the audio cue that also let's you know an exit is nigh.

You would think that. But mine literally just flashes randomly the entire time you have any navigation going. Completely random. I feel like its something that just isn't fully programmed at the moment.

That does seem odd, I'd say in your case it would clearly be a bug.

For me it is consistent, each time there is the need for an exit it shows up at the same time as the audio tone.

It also does not show up when I use Android Auto (nor the tone).

Same for me. I just used it again this evening and same thing as always. Blue bar appears on the right of the turn notice at the same time as the detailed view on the main screen. Exactly at the .5 mile mark.

Showed first when there was a Junction from Loop 202 freeway to AZ-24 and then again to exit the 24 onto a surface street. After that, no more blue bar.

No way to customize that screen that I've been able to find in the car.
There isn't that I know of either. The manual is a bit lacking. I was commenting on what it said. Just like it says the blue bar "area" is information. Nothing else just information. I would love to be able to customize screen as well as know WHAT information it is showing.

Ok driving around more using nav: I can see when the blue bar pops up "on purpose" as it will stick when the main screen is showing some nav information (like get in the right two lanes).

When it isn't supposed to be up, however, is when it flashes occasionally.
