Three hours in and some observations….

The various (erroneous) alerts during the process from the car’s displays aren’t for the faint of heart.

High amperage external power is a must - the car’s coolant system is currently running.

Process is quite straight forward on the laptop. Pleased with the original post’s documentation and the YouTube video - Thank you! The car has been restarting itself followed by a flurry of alerts before the app prompts to shutoff the ignition.

This is on a first batch FE built 1/21 for which OTA only got it to 2.4.4 as of yesterday.
9 hours later and still applying updates via USB (APIM and GWM).

FP app notified that BC is now available but the car currently identifies as a rocket headed to space. Still climbing at 14ft/sec….

Moon Cruise mode, they just added it as a new feature.

Well, the dealers seem to be successful at updating them once in a blue moon so I think it's appropriate. ?‍♂ ?

Hmmm 9 hours to do just those two modules... I was thinking that others did the last two modules in something less than an hour. Any surprises or does it just take that long?

Does anyone have an updated list of what not to run updates for on a Job2 Mach E GT? @Machncheez video has me nervous about how to best identify those that can be updated vs those that can't.

The car was at 2.4.4 prior to running through all of the updates. 10 hours total elapsed start to end. The two hard resets of APIM at the end of the process cleared out the altitude issues.
Testing of BC afterwards was very satisfying. Car was also no longer prone to suicidal tendencies on the lane centering when out of the BC zone. There was one spot on the highway in the left lane when it always wanted to suddenly steer into the median cables….
Very pleased with the results.

I *belive* that the issue here was traced to using a reduced price cable (VX Diag) rather than the Mongoose-Pro; it was something with the PCM on that specific cable, if I recall correctly - others applied it with Mongoose with no issues. (@benk016 if memory serves this was you on the VX Cable?)

If I’m wrong, someone please chime in - my mongoose cable is supposed to arrive any day now!

Hahaha you tagged my doppleganger from Southern California, but my impression at least is that they might have fixed this problem? If not, I think it was these, but I'm not sure if this has been fixed yet and these modules won't be listed in FDRS anymore:

It does sound like from that thread the problem might have been a bad adapter -- but I thought @DevSecOps used a Mongoose and had problems applying these updates (he lost BC afterwards). This seems unclear from the updated first thread.

Thanks @scoopman and the many other forum members that helped out with instructions and caveats to the process as part of this thread. I bought a battery tender, Mongoose, and a 2 day FDRS license and was able to run 10 module updates for my Job2 GT (Buld date 10/2021). PCM, OBCC, ABS, RFA, BECM, SOBDM, SOBDMB, SOBDMC, BCM, HVAC.

I’ll +100 the recommendations to make sure you have a good battery supplier on hand. I ended up dropping several hundred for the one Scoopman uses in his YouTube video and it made things much less stressful.

The only one I didn’t update was the CMR (listed above). It was the last update available, when I clicked run it wanted to do a bunch of other module updates (likely IPMA?) as well. I canceled that and left it as is. I’m using a desktop PC as my updater, so I was worried about having to recalibrate the camera systems on a highway or something afterwards and running into issues.

Anyone know what that CMR (and related modules) update does if you already have Bluecruise?

I also followed the instructions of many others and hole-punched the covering to allow for easy access to the battery terminals.

Notable things I’ve seen changes with:
1: Regen under 1PD is much less aggressive. Unsure if it’s pulling the same power back into the pack and the operation is just smoother, or if they dialed regen back outright. I never thought 1PD was overly aggressive, but it’s notably more luxurious coming to a stop.

2: GOM reset, or the algorithm used has different and more optimistic on range.

3: While I never had major PAAK issues, it’s been 100% since updating.

4: Middle screen doesn’t seem to bog down near as easily as before.

5: Validated updated charge curve took on my car. Saw 34kw at 83% when hooked up to a crappy nearby EVGo charger.

Sounds like we don't have confirmation from your experience if the blue cruise related updates allegedly for GTPE will work or if they will result in a loss of blue cruise....

That’s right. I was able to activate Bluecruise on a drive today as normal, so none of the 10 I updated had an impact on that front.

It was an ICC (instrument cluster) update designed for Job1, that was released to Job2 VINs, that broke Bluecruise on Job2. It basically took us backwards, pre Job1 having bluecruise.
