In other news - I just got a call from my dealership.

The rubber car mats and boot liner I ordered in February have arrived!

Looks like parts are starting to flow from Cologne HQ

Don't go and pick them up in the MME - they'll throw a chain around it and cover it with "DANGER - DO NOT DRIVE" tape....

I did pickup in the Mach-E and a few of the guys from the Service area came out for a chat (and to have a snout at the car) They were like “Ahhh - you’re the only bloke in Norfolk allowed to drive one of these. All the staff want to drive our demonstrator but nobody is allowed”

Bless them.

My car now smells like a condom factory (hot rubber floor mats) - I just hope Ford didn’t take the recycling of used plastics that far!

Also, what's your impression of the mats (apart from the condom smell lol) - I have some on order!

No - they had only seen the “Red top” memo about the stoppage. No further info from them.

In regards to the rubber mat set - it’s well made and it fits well (should think so too for £95)

Boot liner with flappy flap is nice too - although I wasn’t expecting the outer material to be carpet (inside is tough rubber - flappy bit is like wetsuit material)

Can you just get the boot liner separately? This would be ideal for when the dog gets in and out .

Just been thinking about the badge problem on the lower front doors (as you do)

Why not tape them down with masking tape? Then when you clean the car your sponge, polishing cloth, whatever, will just glide over the badge. Once done remove the masking tape and clean around the badge with an old toothbrush.

I think I've done this in the past... (so many cars, so many years )

So do you mean you can reverse it and have a carpet side up? Although the flappy flap is like wetsuit material do you reckon it is strong enough to protect the sill of the boot?

I think the smell of my mats was actually the packing they came in as the mats don’t seem to smell at all now. ?

I did waver over ordering the rubber boot liner - or the folding out multipurpose one. Went with the multipurpose.

@al14 So yes the neoprene fold out flap is there specifically to protect the boot opening while you are loading/unloading. If you fold down the rear seats the mat can be unfolded out to protect the whole boot space back of the seats and reveals a rubberised surface layer. It’s quite a clever design really.

Anymore gossip on when the OTA for the location GPS issue will be available? I think that is all I am waiting for now to get the car.
