Resale values appear to have taken a dive on the mache since Tesla dropped their prices! My ER rwd black came back with shocking quotes from webuyanycar and motorway despite a low mileage of 15k for a nearly 2 year old car.
For some strange reason valuations from the likes of WBAC have been much less generous over the last few months but dealers still seem happy to pay more. When I sold my Mach E, WBAC valuation was £31500, down £10k in about 6 months, but I was given £38500 p/ex. They only made £500 on it because I saw it on sale online a couple of weeks later at £39000. Soon disappeared again so it was snapped up pretty quick!

WBAC has valued our First Edition with 6k miles at £37k. Similar on Autotrader are mostly on sale at £49k with the odd one in the mid 40s.

Prices have deffo dropped.

This time last year I sold my 1yr old 2021 RWD ER with 9000 miles to webuyanycar for £47k

Just done a valuation for my 1yr old 2022 RWD ER which also now has 9000 miles on it - effectively the same transaction a year later - and they are offering £37k

So basically a £10k drop on a comparable transaction which I attribute to more cars being available both on 2nd hand market and new.
Can you forsee a situation when second hand values strengthen again as we head ever closer to 2030 and (hopefully) there's a sudden rush to buy EVs as the new ICE cutoff looms? Do you think the price of ICE vehicles will weaken up to this point as there are orphan ICE vehicles in stock?

This is all conjecture of course. Just wondering.

I think it's taken a hit because electric prices have increased and consequently away from home charging is now potentially more expensive that petrol.

This has resulted in enough articles in the daily mail etc to deter a lot of people plus the various articles given by writers about range issues. Also include the Telegraph in that.

Would you believe Ford! You may recall back in November I got my account blocked because of a third party having access to the car (it was Octopus on th eIntelligent tariff using smarter.com - who have no authority from Ford to access anything). It took them 5 weeks to actually get the account unlocked, something I can do at work in about 5 minutes. Well since then it has been blocked again, even though to the best of my knowledge I am not using any third party access, I no longer use Intelligent, even though I remained on the tariff, but Ford say this was the reason, but they cannot tell me who the third party is!

So after about 6 weeks of back and forth, they now tell me that the only way they can fix it is to delete my Ford account completely, and I'll have to sign up again, which I am assuming will mean a master reset in the car too. But they haven't managed to do that yet either.

I have to say that I have completely lost faith in Ford to provide a good level of service for this vehicle, I have had to take it back to the dealer for issues more times than all my previous cars combined. I still maintain that visually the car is beautiful and the build quality is great as you would expect from one of the worlds oldest car makers. But the car is let down badly, and I mean BADLY by the software and connected systems that are both inside and outside the vehicle. Unless Ford can make some dramatic changes to this soon, my next car will be a Kia EV6. @Ford Motor Company

I had a similar experience and multi emails and complaints. Eventually got it unlocked and a £150 Ford voucher as compensation.

I've just had mine in to get the OTA updates fixed and it was in for 2 days and they evanshalshaw wanted to continue over the weekend. I said I actually need my car so they said if I took it they would have to restart the updates and need it for a week. A new complaint has now gone to Ford and I too have had enough, if the resale values hadnt tanked I would be getting rid of the car as I have no more faith in Ford.

Hi - this is my first post - I just picked up a used 2021 Mach e with 8000 on the clock (RWD ER) and have started reading the forums. I have to say this thread and many others have filled me with instant regret despite my initial great feeling about the car.
My car is stuck on the sync version 1.7.1 which is apparently full of bugs and completely ancient. I want to get it resolved and updated as best I can - I can see many improvements in the newer software what's my best hope for getting it upgraded - do I need to go to my local dealer or can anything be done OTA ? What should I say to the dealer for them to rectify this ?

Welcome to the forum, Greymache.

Don’t be put off by the comments on here. I’ve done just over 52,000 miles in mine and it’s great to drive if a little interesting and almost live in it, feels like i do at times at any rate!!

Never got too excited about the updates, some of the others will be best to help & advise on this.

Anyhow, enjoy!

Thanks Teslaeata (I test drove a model Y Tesla yesterday before committing to the Mach E). I much preferred the Mach e drive over the Tesla !

The software is very important to me (I'm very techy) - I'm annoyed that I can't get the phone key thing (does not appear in ford pass) or keyless entry working - also should there be a light in the boot ?

The light in the boot will stop working (I think) if you have it unselected to light up when doors open so check that.

Congrats on the 2021 RWD ER - it’s a great car - don’t let all our grumblings on here put you off.

Let me start you off with some good news. If your car has Power-Up 1.7.1 already installed then you are past the biggest software hurdle. The huge issue was getting onto that version, with many stuck in a halfway house limbo between that and the version before.

It’s not a bad version itself - it just had issues in it’s distribution via OTA update which is what might have led you to believe that you have a rubbish outdated software version. There’s been a few attempts by Ford to roll out the next version here in the UK but they have been very stop/start. Don’t for the love of god fall into the expectation that we will ever be running the same version as our US counterparts - the EU & UK software has been a bit behind due to Ford EU running in a parallel dimension with a different set of features.

So to answer your question - there are two official ways to get your SYNC software updated. Either wait for the OTA releases (which is what Ford wants you to do), or you can ask your dealer very nicely to do it using their dealership software update tool (FDRS)

The problem is that the updates can take a very long time for a Service Tech to install using FDRS, and because they can’t claim the labour times back off Ford they will either refuse to as it’s classed as non essential, or charge you for many hours of labour which would be expensive.

The third non official option is to find somebody who is prepared to install the updates for you using FDRS, but who doesn’t work for a dealership (people like me). That will depend on how far away you are from someone with the kit.

Hope that answers your questions - if you need anything more just shout on this thread or drop me a DM. We’re a mostly friendly bunch and we don’t bite (much) :)

Just realised this bit didn’t get answered earlier…. the answer is we don’t have phone as a key (PAAK) on UK models. (ie you can’t unlock and drive the car using just your phone)

You can unlock the car using the FordPass app, and you can start car to pre-condition the cabin & de-ice it - but you can’t drive it anywhere unless you have the physical key fob on you.
