A NEMA 14-50 outlet can only be connected to a 50 Amp breaker from everything I have read and understood here and other places. A 60 Amp breaker circuit is ONLY for hardwiring directly to the device without a plug. That being said, I assume you could remove the outlet of a 50 Amp circuit and hardwire the Ford Charger and it will work fine with the lower amperage. It just won't work at its highest output for charging - not that much of a difference if charging overnight.
Exactly, don't put something rated for only 50 amps with a breaker that trips at 60.

If you want to start with a 50 amp breaker and 14-50 outlet, you could use 4 gauge wire and later "upgrade" by replacing the outlet with a hardwired charger and the 50 amp breaker with a 60 breaker.

Thanks! Sounds like this is the prudent way to go if I want to be sure I'm ready for the car.

I assume you could also do the wiring with the gauge needed for a 60 amp breaker (4 gauge from my understanding) install the 50 amp breaker now, and replace it with a 60 amp breaker when you go to hardwire. That wire is a LOT more expensive. More than double the price of 6 gauge. To be sure though, ask your electrician.
Actually what is required for the 48amp charger is 6/3 Gauge, you can put a 60amp breaker on that, especially If the run is complicated like mine. 4gauge is very hard to pass in the ceiling especially if your beams are closed off. If your panel is in your garage than go ahead and pass the 4 gauge. In my case my charger didn't need a neutral, just 2 hots and ground. Not sure about the Ford charger. I forgot to mention, the charger being a 48 amp has to be hardwired.

Mystery meat! Take your life in your hands!
You guys are really brave eating gas station food!
I sometimes questions the chips! and the bottled water!
In Jersey-That mystery meat can be one of two things-Depending on where you are in the state. It’s either Taylor ham or Porkroll.

I was going to buy the connected charger, but the cost of that unit, along with what I assumed would be the cost of installation (I was assuming close to $1K) made the decision for me. I bought the Grizzl-E 40 amp charger for $399, bought wiring and materials for about $150 and the electrician I had install it charged me $120 to do the simple wiring run and installation that I was uncomfortable doing myself. So, all in, I am at less cost than the Ford charger. While it would be nice to have the ability to control the charger through the app, the car can control charging just as well. I just could not justify that extra expense for that small convenience. Even so, I was concerned that the Ford charger was and as far as I know is still unavailable to buy and install. Having a car and no way to fuel it was not an option for me - and I did not want to deal with scheduling all of that at the last minute.
I for the first bit do not need the 40 amp charger. A standard nema 14-50 (rv, stove, welder outlet) appears to work with ford, tesla and most likely others LR chargers to come. The road charger and a universal plugin has enough amps for me. The 40 amp gives what 10 kw vs 7 of the ford? I will likely grab a second ford plugin charger for back up at some point. Will wait to see if the Ford road charger does adequately . For me it is about it having enough juice to keep itself maintained sitting in the cold temps. Northern states should be able to relate to that. As far as the increase in charging speed that is just not worth the cost; if I really need it I can run to a 50 kw. Depends on what suits your needs and all have different.

Your 3 wire charger probably has a 6-50 plug on it instead of 14-50

I'm in the same boat (didn't really need 40A, and was just gonna use the included mobile charger first and maybe get something later). But here in the US there's a 30% tax credit for chargers expiring this year, so that effectively made the Grizzl-E only $250 for getting it now. Couldn't turn that down.

Looks like you're in Canada though do that doesn't apply. (Ironically, the Grizzl-E is made in Canada though. :) )

Are there any updates on the “Update on Mach-E launch progress from engineering friends in Mexico” front? It’s been a while since there was.

In quebec we get 600$ and municipalities add to it. Its a state/provincial incentive.

I look forward to the news to come, when the first production Mach E has rolled off the assembly line!

My guess is that's already happening. There are 2,000 + FCTP / Demo Mach-E's for the dealers that ordered one that will be assembled first and should be some on the line now.

Probably not coming off the line nearly at normal production rate yet, but hopefully soon be at a rate to finish these off and move on to the really important run --- The First Editions.
