I've been driving a 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe PHEV, but recently had the urge to get a full EV. I did my research (I'm someone who researched the s#%$ out of everything I buy) and just leased (at a great rate) a California Rte. 1 (saved me more than $3K over the Premium with only a few better options missing that I didn't care about) for about $3000 under MSRP). I'm going to save about $15K over three years in reduced monthly payments, fuel costs, and maintenance.
I've only had the car for a week, but I love it! It's fun to drive, fast, comfortable, well appointed, I love the tech, and it looks great (compared to comparable EVs).
I watched a lot of Youtube videos before I got my Mach-E comparing it with Tesla Y, Kia EV6, etc. The general conclusion of the majority of videos is negative. I don't get it.
I realize that the Mach-E has had some problems in their early iterations of the car (as any new car will have, particularly an EV) and it still does. At the same time, can anyone explain why there are so many haters and why people think the Mach-E is so
Cliche alert: 'a few fatal flaws' in a car that is 'well built overall': are we all driving a fabulous deathtrap?? ?I don't think its the car itself, but rather Ford's response once those problems are brought up. It's Ford's really first EV, so there's going to be teething problems.
The car is well built overall, but with a few fatal flaws (HVBJB being one). Ford is finally doing the right thing and issued a replacement recall.
The other thing is that people compare it to Tesla, and you can complain a lot about tesla, but they got their software down. There systems are all integrated from the bottom up. Where as Ford's are a patchwork from multiple companies, so OTA updates can be challenging to say the least.
If you're happy, then forget what everyone else on the internet say, just go out and enjoy the car.
