F-150 Lightning never qualified for x-plan. That's actually the reason Ford gave for removing it from the MME.
That sounds … irrational. I wonder if too many dealers complained about losing ADM? ?

You can’t get X plan AND a discount. It’s one or the other. There also isn’t X plan on 2023 models anyways (assuming you haven’t taken delivery yet).

And $3500 off is better. Take that deal. If you can. Did your order get switched to a 2023??

This almost looks like how people bought cars 3 years ago……… negotiating thousands off MSRP.

Maybe this means there’s more “wiggle room” in 2023 pricing. It also helps you’re not in California.
No, this is a 2022, I have a build date for next week.

I think it's more likely that Ford has realized that the number of MMEs they sell won't go down if they kill x-plan.
True. I’m just being cynical. I’ve just always purchased cars on A/X plan. I hope when it comes time to replace my Mustang Mach E, it’s back on X plan.

I believe A-plan is still available if you can qualify for it.

Sadly, I haven’t qualified for A/Z plan in a long time. You have to be a company employee or retiree, or a close relative of a company employee/retiree to qualify for A/Z plan (I believe spouses of deceased retirees also qualify for Z plan).

I agree with this that this is a great deal under the current circumstances. You might also qualify for options and my guess is it's because it's in MN? (too much snow/ice/low EV adoption?).

I also see a priority code of 19 so that's higher (I think 10 is what most folks have?) and maybe the dealer didn't expect this to be scheduled? Hope you get it this year, no idea how the tax stuff works for next year currently.

I almost never see price cuts from MSRP, especially recently.

Admittedly, I don't know how the discount is being applied - there's no state rebates in MN. I went back to them on the last day of the month/quarter and told them I was going with a cross town rival. He sent me the below quote so I had something in writing and I placed my order with them. He did say it wasn't dependent on any particular financing plan or even financing with them.

I'm not one to be greedy but if I qualify for XPlan and the additional lowered cost of the XPlan pricing doesn't affect the dealer, I think it's probably worth asking them about it. Just trying to learn a bit from others with similar experience before inquiring at the dealership - thanks!
You claim to be paying $3,500 under MSRP. Assuming that is not via rebates that you qualify for, i.e. it's truly the dealership giving you a discount, then you might be the first in the entire world on this car.

But, let's assume it's correct.

So here's what you don't understand.

X-Plan is a DISCOUNT OFF MSRP. On this vehicle, it's 2%, plus $275. Off MSRP. Using your numbers, $72,410 x .98 + $275 = $71,236.80. That's the price you would pay with X-Plan, and be limited to $100 for dealership paperwork fee. So the discount off MSRP is $1,173.20.

If you're paying a $1 less than that (and you claim to be paying $2,326.80 less), then using X-Plan would be foolish - you'd be throwing away $2,326.80, unless they're charging you that much for paperwork.

Hopefully that makes sense.

And, as stated, starting with the 2023 model year, no X-Plan for anyone, period.

I just spoke with the Fleet Manager that Ive been working with. He said they honor XPlan, would need to bring in ID Badge/Paystub and PIN # when the car arrives. He said they honor all the plans to pass along the savings as it doesn't affect their bottom line.

He said he would honor the $3,500 discount promised as well. He did ask if I would strongly consider using their finance department vs bringing my own and that they partner with my Credit Union and would offer the same published rates.

He's been very good with communication and has been willing to email me in writing on the original discount and when the price protection issue popped up mid-year.

Obviously need to get the car here and sign the paperwork but I feel pretty good with where this is at. Thanks for the thoughts and info on the XPlan!

That makes no sense, since discounts and X-Plan don't go together (unlike incentives/rebates). Unless the $3,500 is all price protection... Good luck!

I don't make the rules, or admittedly understand all of them. I ordered in March so there is no price protection for any 2022 increases since they're the same as when I ordered. It's definitely not a 2023 because I have the VIN and window sticker, being built on 9/15.

I understand how uncommon the discount is. I think I just happened to land on a unicorn of a deal for this car.

I get it, but you're not understanding that X-Plan, and discounts, can't go together. Not only does it not make any sense, it's against the rules of the Plan. They can't give you more than $50 worth of anything, i.e. free touch-up paint, and can only do that IF they give it to everyone. So if they're are giving you a discount off price, that's not due to price protection, or rebates/incentives, AND X-Plan, then that's not going to fly with Ford, but that's not your concern.

Definitely keep us updated when the car comes in. It sounds too good to be true, but if it is, it’s an amazing deal for you.

I just hope the fleet manager isn’t making promises he can’t keep. The way pricing and everything works on the Mach E is NOT the same as other vehicles.

Example- invoice on the Mach E is MSRP.

That’s why outside of X or A plan, never heard of even a $50 discount below MSRP.

And the rules on X plan are very strict. No discounts combined allowed.

If the dealer gives you a price that’s $3500 below X plan, that’s great for you, but the dealership will be eating a $5000 loss.

Do you have any updates - were you able to take delivery with the $3500 discount?
