Only Canadians have airports as locations. Sad part is I know almost all of them by heart ???‍♂
Fun fact then...all (major) Canadian airport codes start with "Y" - YYZ, YUL, YVR etc. The other two letters generally were the radio tower call signs, so in Montreal the call sign was UL, in Toronto it was YZ, etc. Except for Edmonton, where they used their two letter railroad code - EG. The Y comes from "yes" - added to each radio call sign if the airport also had a weather station. When ICAO moved to three letter airport codes we just added the Y permanently.

And you thought ORD was weird...

Yeah, ours are random af. ORD is short for ORcharD Field which is where O’hare is located. If you look at the map, it is located just outside the City of Chicago. But to connect it, they made part of the highway and the airport an extension of the city (see the upper left corner of the pic).

I spent 10 years working between US and Canada and have a lot of dear friends and some family north of the border. Had to destroy my expired nexus card yesterday and it was a bitter sweet moment.

I've been using this handle since the early days of web forums. At one point, I wrote a bunch of code for web development. It's better than "500 Internal Server Error", which was too long. "404 Not Found" resonated, but again too long.

Interested to hear why you all chose your usernames.

Mine’s Teslaeata.

When I started my apprenticeship as a car & truck mechanic back in September 1977 there was a man working in the bodyshop, Mick Cronin, who had a big Moto Guzzi motorbike he’d often couple to a sidecar.

Jota was one of the fastest bikes of the time and he had written on the back of his Moto Guzzi “Jotaeata” which always stuck with me as I found it amusing.

So my unseenane is just an amusing (I think) variation on that theme.
Since I was approaching octogenarian status, I needed something I could remember. I don’t know why my wife keeps calling me Bill.

Many moons ago during the infancy of the interwebs, I had to come up with a handle for some newsgroup or email or something like that. The instructions said not to use your real name. Since creativity isn't my strongest quality, I turned the "ill" in the middle of nickname upside-down.... Billy became b177y. Amazing ?

Back in my high school days in the 70s, me and my friends listened to KROQ on the FM dial. DJ Frazer Smith had a habit of adding "dog" to people's names. One day, one of my aforementioned pals dubbed me as Londog, which miraculously has stuck. Got a personalized license plate with LONNDOG because LONDOG was already taken -- thus the two n's in my handle here.

Btw, one day years ago, while driving my then LONNDOG car north on the I-5 right about where it splits with the 405, I saw it: LONDOG! Tried like hell to catch up with the guy and get in front of him, but he was continuing on the I-5 and I was 405 bound.

I no longer have that licence plate, but I'm still Lonndog.

A nod to arcade times where you you only get 3 letters and then got 4 since there were many using ASR always put 1 after it became my call sign in the arcades ASR1.
