Battery conditioning uses minimal amounts of energy compared to charging. But I keep my EVs plugged in in colder weather( I have my EVs in a garage, so not critical). My theory is not to use the EV battery for this.
The conditioning is not continual. It is periodic as needed. And you have to listen hard and close ( unless you are a 5 year old male with that excellent hearing [those were the days!]) to even hear it.
Unfortunately not everyone has a garage, but if you do have one, you should consider making a place for your MME in it during the cold and hot of it. Perhaps a bit more insulation.
Range (currently) will always be affect by temperature. Cold weather affects range (negatively) more. Electrons prefer to be comfortable. Recall your science lessons about temperature and molecule/electron movement. Warmer, not hot, weather will see longer ranges. My Bolt has ranges of 270+ in summer and around 238 in winter.
Where oh where did all the super conductivity scientists go?
Winter now - have Bolt set at 90%, charges to 225mi. (20s for low) which is about range when set at 100% and temperature is in the teens or single digits. We use heated seats and steering wheel as often as possible. AC use, winter or summer, always impacts range.
Since the MMEs software only permits you to use 90% of capacity, 100 = 90, then 0 = 10% remaining? Theoretically ~20 more miles of range. I doubt they would prohibit that energy from being used. Or?

Hi Guys, I'm a newbie here. All in for a MME Premium AWD ER. The talk is about how MME performs in the deep freeze. I'm wondering how it will perform here in Central Florida. In hot /humid weather. Not too many dealers in my area received MMEs yet. Still waiting for a test drive, the list is long; But, I am patient.
Should do pretty well. A/C doesn't use as much energy as a resistive heater does. And the batteries generally like warm-ish temps for charging. Hot temps will take some conditioning but not nearly as much as cold temps.

Yeah, at home it's pretty much a no-brainer. Easy to just plug it in overnight. The issue is out on the road, where range shrinks dramatically and you have to DCFC charge on longer drives.

Well it's not really "emergency heat". But I figured a discussion of thermal balance points was beyond the scope of this thread.
that's the term used in the manual and on the thermostat ?‍♀

Um -10 will have a lot to do with it. Turn your heat down/off.
Exactly. I have been driving Chevy Volts for 10 yrs (will soon trade one in for a Mach e. Below zero, one gets about 50% of range.

And, wondering how a non-sun shade sunroof performs. Concerned about the heat from the sun and the amount of light into the vehicle. I guess I will find out soon enough.

A unheated garage may be no better than outside in the sun. That was one question I had and I put it to my dealer. If it is plugged in it will maintain itself or just freeze up? If it sits for days plugged in in the cold should we set it up on a schedule? What is recommended. It appears the Bolt take care of preserving the batteries if let sitting in the cold as long as it is plugged in? Ford not mentioning it in the manual makes me think it will be the same? I know I bring all my power batteries in the house for the winter but my wife says the MME is not getting under the blanket's with us :( asked not happening.

Ford claims the glass roof has excellent UV protection in it to prevent that, and most reviewers say it's not been a problem. But that's been during Fall/Winter. The real test is yet to come.

If you haven't already done so, delete the EV driving history. You should get a range boost doing that, if the dealer didn't do it for you.

It really works and should be standard for everyone that gets the car new.
It did show difference to me. Went from 253 miles to 278 miles range after deleting history

Missing your point here. But cold range (lack of) has been surprising. So much so that we plan to take the Raptor on any trip over 60 miles in the winter. The Y disappoints in other ways - so much so that we may move to a MME soon.
Sorry, that was actually shade intended for the guy you were responding to - he's been doing his best to troll here for a while. This despite the fact he has absolutely no first hand information. I appreciate you giving us real information; knowing the truth is a good thing.

No worries, just wasn’t sure if I was being dense! The Y is a nice vehicle. It doesn’t drive on water like some proclaim. I think Ford hit the deficiencies of the Y pretty well. Looking forward to seeing a Mach E at my dealer in a few weeks.

if Tesla meant it to, they wouldn't have shipped bumpers that fall off when they get wet.

on the other hand, I suppose if it really drove well enough on water, the bumper wouldn't get wet, I guess.
