Thanks for the heads up. Ordered one. Few bucks more than Parts.Ford but gladly pay it. Will take it to a dealer to have it program once it gets here in about a week. (cheap out and only got standard $3 shipping)
I used coupon code savings12 to save 12%.......total $82.15 shipped (standard $2.99 shipping).

$80 is about what people paid at the Ford site for a blank and the fob I think? so that seems reasonable assuming it's real and not a knockoff.

I just ordered one and found a 15% off coupon code DEALER, hope it can be programmed at the dealer for a relatively cheap price.

Ordered mine for $89.99 from https://www.carandtruckremotes.com/2021-ford-mustang-electric-smart-remote-4b.html where they say they have more than 10 left. During checkout, was offered 10% discount to be automatically applied at checkout if completed within 10 minutes, but it was not, so I have sent a message to their customer support. Hoping to program it myself.

Thanks for the tip. I ordered a couple. Contacted local locksmith who says he would charge $80 to program one or $100 to program two. He said he is not positive he can do it since it would be his first Mach-E but won't charge unless he succeeds. By the way, I did get the 10% discount from Car and Truck Remotes. They are scheduled to arrive March 4.

Great news. This may have been posted earlier but I could not find it. Check out:

Same key used on the 2019 Mustang and the Mach-e. I took the chance, ordered a refurb (complete with blank key) and took it to my dealer. $131 to program the key and it works great. Relieved that I can leave Ford Pass off and my iPhone 12X battery can make it a day and half without a recharge again ;-)

Although we all chose to purchase online to avoid the dealership hassle, Ford is still dealership oriented and not customer oriented. The second FOB omission was just a way to allow dealerships to increase profit. No car comes with only one FOB.
The FOB should not cost over $36. Most parts guys are told to up this price to $250+. The range of exorbitant prices mentioned in the Mache Forum supports this.
The parts guy at my dealership started at $280, but said he would sell it for $175 since I was a veteran! I have no idea what it will actually cost, if and when it comes in. I expect the cost to program it will also be unreasonable, even though the cost of programming is (always was) is included in the msrp.
Trying to program it oneself has great potential for error w/o all of the codes. I can only imagine the increase in cost, in this case, when it must be taken to the dealership.
After market companies are able to earn a good profit because the manufacturer/dealerships are so greedy. They have us over a barrel with the FOB. DO NOT EVER LOSE OR BREAK ONE.

Cheep out shipping was a now brainer for me since my Mach E is still in transit. If it should arrive, I can live for a while with one key.

Thx for the link!! You’ll need the dealer to program pretty sure. Even an auto locksmith with the programmer may not be able to do it with only one key. They can usually program a third fob. With only one available I had to use the dealer. Went through this once for another vehicle. Dealer charged $150 (??) to program and I used an aftermarket fob and it worked fine afterward. Just ordered one of these for $89. Rather have 2 and not screw with paak or dealer backorder.

Funny - literally placed an order for a remote from car and truck remotes about an hour before the first post on this thread... Guess the google algorithm kicked in at the right time for all of us looking for a second FOB.

Same here. Honey found the extra discount code for 15% when I ordered yesterday. Shipping free too, so $76.46 total.

Now the question will be (1) will it work, and (2) what my dealer will charge to program it (if they can even figure it out for the Mach-E).

It will work. I had the same concern about my “reconditioned” fob purchased from them and was pleasantly surprised to return to the dealer to find it working just fine. $131 from my dealer was not so fine but happy to have the second fob we should have received to begin with.

Has anyone attempted to provide the extra FOB to their dealer before pickup and asked them to program the 2nd one ahead of time?

I have to imagine, if a dealer argues a fee here. There has to be some bad customer service light that kicks in their head and they would do it out of pride of good service...

hopeful thinking maybe?

Yes. Scroll back a few posts --

Just got back home from taking delivery. I brought the second FOB that I purchased online from ford parts. They programmed it for me for $85.
