Sorry to hear this. If it was an impact from the front (it looks like it!), It could be because that leading edge is raised up. A fix for this, if they issue it, would probably just be a rubber gasket that fits in the seam and joins the glass with the windshield.
Strange that it's designed like that.

two different things.

this one some kind of trauma from the side. The pattern of the break tells us that.

the Facebook woman (which I'm sure I've seen the picture of the car on here somewhere) is likely the kind of shipment stress thing that happens occasionally to all cars (unforuntately)

I would highly recommend that you all read page 13 & 14 of the 2021 Ford Warranty Manual.

If the dealer can pinpoint any kind of external impact, then it becomes an insurance problem.

This has been a thing on the F-150 sun roofs for years, sometimes spontaneous breakage and sometimes impacts. Impact hits were insurance repairs.

driving into work this morning; glass shattered (upward); as if it was blown out; Ford will not pay........Temp 65 degrees; clear; no tint; mileage on the vehicle is 16,000; Ford motor company DENIED the work; the bumper to bumper warranty do not cover glass....... what happened was like a sonic BOOM ! when the glass broke; Get this i was the only vehicle on the road driving 45mph.....

If it becomes a thing on the MME, especially in the summer, I would consider having a minimal tint ceramic film installed, to contain possible glass shattering. It has happened on other vehicles.

That's been a fear of mine with the plastic liftgate. It's a first for Ford, and I was nervous we'd see rear glass breakage with temperature swings and the plastic's different expansion rates vs. steel. I know they test it, I'm just saying there's risks with anything new. Hopefully this is a one-off - it does happen to all vehicles, sometimes a piece of glass just has an undetectable fault in it from manufacture.

Ford didn't cover my cracked windshield under warranty. They made me file a claim with my insurance company.

It is a thing for Teslas...... and that is why I went with Select. I didn't to be a glass roof tester for Ford.

It's not really "a thing for Teslas".
There have been several incidents with tempered side glass spontaneously shattering, and one incident of the glass roof panel flying off a just-delivered Model Y a few miles from the factory.

The latter incident hasn't been confirmed. It was posted on reddit by a newly created account that never had subsequent posts. So take that as not fully confirmed.

The spontaneously shattering tempered glass is apparently not unusual for any brand. It just gets extra attention with Tesla.

Here I hope that Ford replaces the glass without question. This isn't a cracked windshield with a clear impact point. Sure, it might have been a post-purchase impact, but with a new vehicle it's more likely that it was an undetected flaw in the glass, over-stress during tempering or crack started during manufacturing handling.

How have you been doing with your car? Don't mean to highjack the thread but werent you the one having a ton of issues, then the "rough ride"?

The ride is different and takes some getting used to, but my main gripe has been sync glitches and bugs are many. I do like the car a lot overall aside from the bugs and the roof problem now. I fear the what the roof replacement will damage during removal and installation. That can't be good.

I can understand your concern, it should be like a windshield, when they replace it you can't tell. Let them know your expectations beforehand.

I think the sync glitches will be addressed and well as any open items.
