Just go back from the dealer.
I provided the TSB 22-2117 to the technician but he told me that he was unable to follow instructions... (and i was not able to get more information about the issue they faced off)
He told me that he updated successfully to 1.7.1 (and it is effective) but for the OTA stuck issue it will be solved during Q2 2022.
They seems to be completely out of knowledge about their own technologie, it's ridiculous.
Sounds like we are getting a mixture of successes and failures with this TSB. Can’t say I’m surprised about the failures.

Seems like Ford's fix works - that's the most important piece. The dealers not knowing how to do it is deeply disappointing, but ultimately solvable.

Yes, I meant I am disappointed in some of the dealer’s techs not having a clue on how to do it right.

Looking at what's trying to get done (the operational steps of the fix), It's not that effin' hard, people.

But the TSB is written hideously poorly.
It's organized and formatted in a manner that is both confusing and obstructs cognitive flow.

I've actually written update procedures for software and I can tell you this: beyond choice of wording, the choice of font size and style, bullets, margination, figure proportions, all matter. One glance at the pdf was enough to make me shake my head, and careful perusal reinforced the notion that this was a textbook example of what and how NOT to publish a procedure.
Ford would have been better off just displaying a freakin' flow diagram. But what the hell do I know, I'm not an "automotive professional"...

Update...
Just picked up my car this AM. I'm unstuck. I have turned on Automated Updates and set a schedule. Got the Calm Screen button push, the little X next to the vehicle, etc. They didn't need any of my supplied USB adapters or cables. I'm happy to have found a dealer that is up to speed on the EV world.

Waiting for OTAs

You should have seen it before I fixed the pagination in the PDF, it was extremely confusing right off the press. The next picture’s caption would show up below the previous picture on the same page.

Just got a call from my dealer after I dropped it off yesterday (they did warn me that it wouldn't get done yesterday). The fix kept on failing, they've reset it a few times with no luck. So they are ordering me a new APIM. Supposedly it'll be here on Monday, and they'll swap it out. We will see...

After a week of them having the car at the shop (2nd visit after the recall), I was told everything worked fine this time and they got the APIM update with the latest TSB that I sent to them using their own cables. But unfortunately NO CHANGE (Automated Updates or Calm Screen button push, or the little X next to the vehicle) for me so I guess I am still stuck. They really have no idea on what all of this means or how to tell if it really worked. I could not leave it there any longer so just brought it back home.

As I was getting ready to leave, the main screen went blank. The service advisor had no idea and said the only thing to do it to leave it there and take the loaner back. I looked up on this forum and did the reset (volume down + right arrow for 10 seconds) and it worked. I tried to show the service advisor on what to do if someone else had that issue but he wasn’t interested as long as it worked. Have to find another dealership but not hopeful at all since they are one of the largest in this area.

@Ford Motor Company are you listening?

Sounds exactly like my experience, can almost guarantee they haven't tried the TSB but rather tried updating and failed again and again.

Will you be buying another Mach-E or getting something else like an EV6 or Ioniq 5?
Thanks for asking. I’ve been looking for another MachE while checking out the EV6. I like a lot of things about the EV6, but the driving assist features aren’t as good and that’s something I use a lot

Further update to yesterday's update.

I'm going through the schedule updates process and I'm confused on one point. The instructions say:

1. Select Settings on your vehicle’s SYNC screen
2. Select System Updates
3. Select Schedule Updates
a. If no schedule has been set, select the days of the week and time that you typically don’t need access to your vehicle.
b. Your set schedule will be recurring, so every time an update that requires your ignition to be off becomes available, it will be installed at your selected day(s) and time unless changed.
c. If a schedule has already been set, you can come back at any time to change it
4. Select Save

.....
Item 3a mentions days of the week, as in more than one. But when I go to select additional days it only allows one day to be selected.

My questions are: Which is it? One day only and the instructions are incorrect or I don't know what I'm doing and/or the feature on my version not working as described in the instructions?

TIA for any info

The option to pick different days comes in a 2.x update. Just set a time and it will be set to every day of the week for now

Nope that doesn't work either. I tried that and it squawks that "You must enter a day of the week, etc." I guess I can reschedule every day until I receive an update(?)
