Are you taking yours to a dealer for this one? Wondering if I should get this done before my upcoming road trip?
Nah, gonna get OTA, those have mostly been super easy, thinking it will come sooner rather than later. It also looks like a straightforward dealer install so I guess it depends on how much time you wanna spend on it if you want peace of mind before your trip.

Do software installs go more smoothly if done by the dealer (assuming they follow the instructions) vs by OTA? A few weeks back I got caught in this mess of purchasing Sat June 11 and my dealer calling me a few days later thinking I would need to bring it back because of the recall, only to reverse himself after getting his Ford rep to process the sale. He graciously offered to get me in and out quickly once they had the necessary info for recall. Other than possibly getting it done sooner, is there a benefit to that approach?

How does the OTA work? I am one those who can’t connect my MME to my home’s Verizon FIOS WiFi network. Would that have an impact on the OTA or does it only come via a cellular network?
virtually any Ford dealer should be able to accomplish this in 30 minutes or less. It’s very easy for them and should not involve them dropping your car off a lift or losing the 64 screws to your battery pack or not having the right tools or all the other mishaps we’ve seen. You just need to plug in a windows laptop and hit a couple of buttons basically.

I’d have them do it ASAP so you can get your car.

Just got this pop-up notification while I was in the middle of a Clash of Clans attack. Thanks a lot Ford and NHTSA. It's okay, I still won my attack. ;)

Me too. Was able to flip the switch in the recall notice saying my recall was performed so it would stop sending me scary notifications about recalls.

You installed on your vehicle, right? Notice anything...different? Throttle feel less...throttley? Does the car navigate away from DC Fast Chargers by default now? Is Unbridled mode greyed out?
my GTPE did not feel any different with minor testing last night post update, including a DCFC that worked just great.

depends on how risk averse you are. I like peace of mind especially if I’m carrying passengers.

I figured I'd do it before my trip since I'll do it myself AND I have a handful of other goodies available that came out since my Feb updates that are not currently OTA available like the HVAC, RFA, and wireless charger improvement.

I hope after getting this OTA'ed it'll clear the recall status on the car. After the Blue Cruise OTA update, it remains an outstanding FSA on Ford Etis.

What is this wireless charger improvement you speak of? I just recently got my MME and my only gripe so far is that in order for the wireless charging pad to charge my phone my phone has to be exactly in one spot.

Does anyone know if the recall actually affects performance at all? I skimmed the recall notice and didn't see anything about the software update doing anything other than updating stuff.

There is an update for the wireless charging module that seeks to have improved performance and consistency. My iPhone 13 Pro was the same as yours and now it has been rock solid since I updated the module.

Sorry, I did not read this whole thread....................

I've had the HVBJB and the BECM replaced on my car. Do I still need this update? I'd assume yes...but you know what they say about ASSUME. Makes an ASS out of U and ME ?

If so, I'll wait for the OTA most likely

While I know no one can fully answer this question....if you are not planning on using a DCFC and don't plan to floor the car any point to try and run to go to the dealer or just wait for the OTA at this point?
I have been tracking this problem with all the other regulars on the forum, so I am fully aware of all the concerns. However, I have only made one change to how I drive my car based on all the information we have: I am less aggressive with accelerating after I have been driving the car for a while, like on a trip, especially after a DCFC. For a while I was trying to avoid L2 charging right after a long drive, but I gave up doing that because it is too inconvenient.

So basically I am still driving the car, DCFC and WOTs, exactly as I did before this came to light, except for a slight modification when the car is hot. I would not do anything more if I were you, and so far, 11,000+ miles and zero issues. Zero.

It does say if a repair has been done to a vehicle in the past for this, it still needs these updates. I’d assume unless it was super recent, you’ll need them.
