I have never understood this. Is it because Ford can get away with charging as much as possible ?
Similarly Mach E is way more expensive than Ioniq 5 or EV 6
We in the business world call it supply and demand. More people want it now and are willing to pay more now. I was glad my wife ordered this a few days after the mach e came out. She got her GTPE Oct 2021. The car seats fit perfectly and so far the car has been terrific. Especially red lite to red lite. We are in a rural area Butler county pa rt8 50mph speed limit with traps pretty much every few miles. Certain parts we have several lites and no traps where locals love running red lite to red lite.

My opinion is that neither of these cars is worth $65k. With the full tax credit (for those that qualify) it's more interesting but still a tough call on value IMHO.

I have both a GTPE and a Model Y P. They have both their strength and weakness. Personally I think that the basic autopilot is better than blue cruise. More reliable. Tesla software is lightyears ahead of ford. Structural build quality is better on the MME. The hatchback had to be adjusted on my MY, but tesla did a great job of that. MME interior is better, but does not look like it belongs in a 70k suv. It wasn't much better than in my Mazda cx5 I had a few years ago.

Say what you will about tesla quality, but FORD is not doing to well with the recalls, cars bricking left and right and all the software, OTA problems right now. What was suppose to be a positive for FORD (the dealer network) is leaving a lot to be desire.

When I first got the MME, I would recommend it to people that asked, but now, I don't because of all the problems that FORD is experiencing. If FORD would get its act together, that may change, but I can't in good conscious recommend a FORD at this time.

You didn't own an early MY. My 60d broke in the first 50 miles. The MME is lights years ahead for issues vs release date.

MME looks way better than model Y...

ford OTA is a joke. in 10 months I received total 4 (3 are related to the recall, 1 BC map update). Sync never updated and I'm glad I traded it for a '22 which has newer SYNC software.

I have received 5 OTA during 3 months of owning Tesla MY. mostly are feature updates on the software.

comparing Autopilot against BlueCruise, each one has its pros and cons. I like BC can be handsfree, you can make minor steering adjustment without disabling it. but it does ping-pong. AP locks you dead in the center of the lane, and adjustment would disable AP, and it's annoying when the lanes widens, especially when the lane splits to two, it would move to the center then suddenly find need choose a side.

Actually I did. I got a LR MY in June 2020 (Right after the covid shut down. ) I had it for 30k miles and sold it for a MY P 2 years later.

I will admit that panel gaps were there, but were corrected without hassle at my service center. Other then that, it had been dead reliable. Even the tires after 30k miles had 5/10 left. Cost of service other then electricity was a big fat $0.

There will always be outliers as far as cars that break down or has problems, but the way that FORD is dealing with all the problems right now is not encouraging. On top of the the Dealers in general don't seem to care. Probably because they are fat now from the large ADM they're charging.

Honestly if I had to sell one right now, it would be the MME. And its because I don't trust FORD or its dealership to fix it it in a timely matter. That and the 5 second power reduction.

Agree, MME looks much better and has better color options. MY is much more efficient both in term of battery and interior space.

As far as Autopilot is concern, there are hacks for hands free. Just pay attention to the road. I defiantly like Tesla UI better, especially how it shows what cars it sees.

But Tesla also lack blind spot monitoring, cross traffic warning and bird's eye view.

But overall, I'll take a reliable car over one that has left many people stranded, and FORD not proactively fixing the problem. The software update does not count as a fix.

one thing few people mention is the glass roof. I really really hate heat, MME sunroof almost blocks all heat, the mesh shade I have bare feel warm under the sun (but MME side windows really suck on blocking heat). inside my Tesla MY, the shade feels quite hot under the sun. I had to replace mesh shade with something reflective but still feel hot.

Interesting. I didn't noticed a difference between the two. In fact I was going to tint the roof of the MY when I first got it, but the tint guy suggested that I wait because it didn't transmit much heat.

Texas head must be much hotter then Cali heat. I lived in Texas for 7 years, so I can see your point.

I cannot speak to UK prices since I have never shopped vehicles there. Last year, in the U.S., the Y was more expensive than the MME if I recall. Plus the Y had at least 3 price increases after the MME was introduced. The MME did just experienced a significant price increase but who knows how many price increases the Y may receive in the coming months as well.

I think they are both great vehicles that appeal to people in different ways.

I am not sure what you priced out but for model y for one the way I priced out the Mach e for the Model y ended up 14,000 dollars more than my Mach e

Don't add Full self Driving. only an idiot would buy that. Basic autopilot is equivalent to Bluecruise.
