2021 job 1 here, gonna be performing this update soon. Do I need to Mongoose into the car first to start the USB transfer process? And can I disconnect from the car while it creates the USB?

Yes, once it is actually downloading to the USB, you can disconnect the Mongoose.

Wow, Andy you mentioned that this update made SYNC "snappier"; I can't imagine how slow it must have been since I'm really kinda done with how slow it is, and I have 3.5.3 on my 2022 so I presume it's the same! I'll be seeing Mark this weekend so it will be interesting to compare things on his 2021...

3.5.2 is a GWM update, not a SYNC update. Your interface won’t be any different afterwards. The new SYNC is in the 3.5.3 OTA.

I received 3.5.2 on September 8th.

I applied the APIM update using FDRS on September 16th. Took my SYNC version to 22228_PRODUCT Revision: 539, the same version as reported in 3.5.3.

At the time no GWM update was shown as available for my car in FDRS. On September 27th I decided to apply the door module updates and there was a GWM update available.

So if 3.5.2 was a GWM update, there is already a newer version that was offered up to my car through FDRS.

Yeah, I'm not really seeing the "snappiness" on my 2021 Job 2... pressing the car on the top left still stutters the menu coming down. Some switching seems to be slightly smoother, like changing the HVAC temp, but definitely still stuttering along and delays opening.

Well, we know at least one MY21 Job 1 received 3.5.2 OTA so Ford is beginning to officially push it out to the MY21 Job 1s and perhaps this marks the start of the long-rumored “version parity” (or whatever the correct term is) across all jobs and model years of Mustang Mach E (at least until the Google-based system arrives ?)

I thought it was faster when I first tried it at 10:45pm right after flashing it, but I now agree with the forum that things are about the same in terms of latency

Attempted this install and it took 90 mins in my 2021 Job 1. Although in the end, one application “failed” to install. Tried to reinstall the package, FDRS transferred the single package to my USB, then plugged it into my car USB. SYNC said “this package is already installed”. Everything seems fine, the APIM update isn’t in my list anymore

Do a reboot of sync using the steering wheel controls and verify packages again and it'll pass. Mine had several that failed until I did this.

OK. I successfully ran all updates that were pending for my car today. Took about an hour and a half to do everything. All but the GSM and GFM are new this week.

After applying all updates, I immediately got new connected service options:

I Activated Ford Streaming just to see what would happen. So far, nothing in car has changed. But it now shows active:

The biggest change for me that I was waiting for is that Android Auto now displays in expanded view as expected!

This update series also had new PowerTrain updates. I am going to go do some new WOT runs and log the data to see if there is any difference in power delivery or anything drive related in a bit once the battery is charged up.

You can run the APIM configuration procedure. That will just re-apply the config on it, which is the last step of the update.
