We know there have been supply chain issues, but Ford's announcement of the 2023.5 orders, did they not mention they closed the plant in January to retool and add capacity for the big second half production increase?

Seems like the real reason a September 2022 order with an initial forecasted delivery of 18-22 weeks turned into 36 weeks to scheduled delivery was Ford's choice to prioritize second half production.

I was one of the early 2021 orders. Waited 17 months. 36 weeks is not so bad..............................
Ouch! I can't imagine waiting that long. Unless you also ordered a CyberTruck :)

What is frustrating is not knowing what my car is going to cost after one price cut and a second price cut that may or may not apply. Then throw in the loss of a $3,750 tax rebate because of the delays.

As it stands, how can I take delivery of car that costs more than the same car ordered this week. The resale value and depreciation of a 2023.0 vs a 2023.5?

If Ford really starts filling dealer lots with Mach-E's, there might be good deals to be found late summer.

The fact that lead time is 36 weeks means Ford is not filling the lots with MMEs. There is strong demand for these vehicles at the current price point and clarity about tax incentives. The issues with demand happened when Ford increased MSRP by ~$7000 for 2023s. Current price makes sense.

The long lead times were due to production shutting down for the second half ramp up.

Try my order:
April '22 order - 6 months being told no '22 - forced to get '23.
August '23 re-order - 10 months later it gets destroyed in transit.
May '23 2nd re-order by Ford - shipped this week ETA says 6/1 but train transit actually takes 2-4 more months.

Total delivery will probably be: 18-20 months ( 72-80 weeks)

Fine, and the order book was just reopened when it was closed for a while.

You won't find much sympathy for delivery delays on this forum; they've greatly improved since the early days. Mine was quoted as 24+ weeks and they were correct, the plus was another 26 weeks. Got mine 2 weeks short of a year.

I wasn't looking for sympathy just clarity. I've been reading these forums and saw how the converted 2022 orders really got delayed or some even ended up in a train derailment.

Your take on the retooling, from your perspective, make sense. But of course Ford knew long in advance that they were going to close for that period and put that in the timing. Did they update the website properly? Who knows. But many vehicles are in transit for 2 or 3 months.

There might not be a difference in price. The appraisal system might not be able to select the half year. Just able to select the options.

Technically I got my ‘21 GT-PE 7 months after I converted my rezzie into an order on April 27 (the day before GT ordering officially opened up). I didn’t have an order before then, so I was just on reservation for months upon months. ??

my general feel from watching delivery threads over the last 7 months waiting for mine is that deliveries are hitting closer to estimates these days. you can't estimate around derailments though. ?

for my own, the original estimate was 5/14/23-5/20/23. today it is now off the train and waiting for final truck transport the last 180 miles to my dealer. it might even get here before the estimate.
