When you say you got the modem reactivated yesterday....are you talking about the car's built in Wi-Fi hotspot? Or something else?

And as for whether or not you should make an appointment with the dealer the answer is yes. You need to take advantage of the program that For is offering to get your car's BlueCruise activated properly and let a tech do it. They're getting paid for it and it's long overdue.
Yeah, the hotspot and I got it connected to my wifi. In our area, the Att signal isn't great. OK, I'll contact the dealer and make an appointment. Thanks for the help!

Well if you wanted to use the hotspot for in-car entertainment I get that...but just in case you thought that it had to do with getting updates...it doesn't.

The car has a TCU (telematics control unit - modem) that it uses to communicate back and forth with the Ford cloud server, and that includes downloading software updates. That has nothing to do with the the consumer-oriented AT&T Wi-Fi hotspot capability.

Think of it as a phone with two sim cards. One is permanently provisioned by Ford for their purposes and the other sim is the one that you get provisioned for in-car entertainment.

Connecting your car to your home's Wi-Fi also doesn't enable updates either (Ford tells people this for some reason, but it's not happening in actual fact).

To best meet all the criteria for getting an OTA (assuming your car is being offered OTAs by the cloud) you should go into Sync and set your check updates schedule to every day of the week at a time that is approximately 15 minutes into your daily commute (either to, or from work, either way). That way your 12V battery will be charged back up to over 80% state of charge from the drive, and you'll likely be back in an area where you're getting 3 bars of AT&T coverage. The 12V battery slowly discharges overnight and can get as low as 50% SOC by morning, so at 1:00AM when Ford's default OTA check time arrives your battery may no longer be at the minimum 80% state of charge to allow the OTA process to go forward.

Those two conditions seem to be the biggest stumbling blocks that prevent OTAs from downloading for most people, 12V battery charge and AT&T coverage of 3 bars or more. So by setting the schedule as described and driving in an AT&T coverage area you stand a better chance of downloading the update while you're driving than if the car is sitting at home in your garage (whether plugged in to the charger or not). Just so you know, even if you plug the car in to the EVSE it still doesn't "trickle charge" your 12V battery at the same time it's charging your HV battery. The car's logic doesn't kick in the 12V battery charging function while the car is sitting until either the 12V battery SOC gets down to 40%, and then a 48hr timer kicks in to initiate a charge cycle after that time elapses...or if the 12V battery actually gets down to 30% then a charge cycle will kick off immediately to recharge the 12V battery back up. So you can see that it can drop down to anything below 80% most nights, and you won't get an OTA as a result.

my 2.5 week old just power-up'd to 4.2.3 this morning. the service manager mentioned the pending OTAs should get me up to date w/o a shop visit so i figured i'd check in to see what is left on my list for now.

the last pre-purchase check @Mike G graciously did for me had HVAC, GWM, OBCC, and RFA on the list.

i think the 4.2.2.2 update i received yesterday updated the APIM but i don't think it actually did anything since the features mentioned in the notes were already present in my car.

the 4.2.3 update received today appears to update the GWM so that might take one off my list.

there appear to be more 4.2.[456] updates in the queue along with 23-PU0105-DC-CHG2 that should bring me current for OTAs.

i don't see any updates that mention the RFA modules though so that may be something i need to have done at the dealer.

in any case, a current status lookup of VIN 3FMTK3SU8PMA28074 would be greatly appreciated again.

No problem. Here's your (short) list:
Ford Mustang Mach-E Post here if you have an active FDRS account and are willing to look up info for others 3FMTK3SU8PMA28074-28-Jun-23

You could be looking at something on this list that already updated via OTA. It does take around 24hrs for things to clear off the list after they have been processed by the car.

Thanks Mike, it's good to know anyway. Leaving tomorrow to Sweden and then Norway, possibly even more countries in Europe, wanted to see sync 4 before it, but no can do...

There's so much to improve in sync and that's probably one of the reasons I'm sticking with MME, getting better and better with updates. Whereas the Tesla's has reached the point where updates only slightly improves software.

Apparently, I got another update today, from 3.5.4.2 to 4.2.1. It looks like this is another update to improve OTA updates. Since it looks like it skipped a few feature updates, does this mean that more will be coming through that were missed? My appointment with the dealer isn't until July 17th, so I'm hoping some more of the feature updates start coming through. Any insight you can offer would be greatly appreciated!

4.2.1 is a gateway (GWM) update that normally precedes the arrival of 4.2.2 which should be the Sync update.

With my car seemingly receiving updates now, do you think it will get the BC update via OTA?

Hoping someone can check VIN# 3FMTK3RM6MMA36496. The 4.2.6 update has been unsuccessfully updating for almost a month now, so wondering if I can shed any light on the issue.

Today on my 21 GTPE I received a suspension fault. Can someone please run my vin # to see if it has had the VDM update. It was off the next time I drove the car so I am wondering if I should take it in. Thanks for your help! 3FMTK4SX4MME03339
