That's not 100% correct. There are 2 levels of certification: selling and maintenance. The dealer I am buying from is certified to sell EVs but not yet for maintenance. There's a way to do an advanced search on ford.com for dealers by the services
You are probably right. I do not know the exact requirements of the dealer agreements, there could be an time allowance for the maintenance cert.

If updates to software/vehicle capabilities are of big interest to you, I would go with Tesla. Tesla views software and constant improvement of existing vehicles as a cornerstone of their owner experience. Yes, Ford has put these capabilities in these new cars, but Ford and all Legacy automakers have not shown a good track record of updating existing vehicles.
This is more perception than fact. Ford is not at Tesla levels of OTA (expect maybe in the assembly plant itself), but legacy makers do many more updates than Tesla. Tesla, though, has to do many updates, as they release most vehicles half-cooked and add the rest of the stuff later. You pay for a lot of features you don't get when you receive the vehicle, but get them when Tesla figures out how to make them work right. It would be as if the Mach-e didn't have collision avoidance when you got it, but it was activated a month later when Ford had the bugs worked out. The customer doesn't complain about paying for it and not getting it, they think they got something for "free". It's a great system, Tesla makes it work. Hats off to them.

The Escape PHEV also qualified for the program.....but production is suspended so I think you are correct about the MME being the only vehicle left that qualifies.

And not all 50,000 are for the U.S. so that means it will take that much longer to reach the 200,000 vehicle sale mark.
The delay on the Escape PHEV means there is a chance the credit will be in place when the eF-150 is released.

The California paint thing is a myth, Tesla paint sucks because Tesla hasn't figured out their paint. The idea that CA banned certain chemicals that are necessary for quality paint and Tesla decided to build their factory there anyways isn't credible. No one can point to which critical chemicals or processes are banned only that there are a lot of regulations. OK, there are a lot of regulations in any place cars are built.

I hate to belabor this point but literally every bad thing that happens inside of California is blamed on crazy California environmentalists and it's just absurd. Tesla can just be bad at something!

1) I think Mach-E GT base price is more than the price of Model Y Performance, and by the time GT is available the tax credit might get expired. Also, you still need to pay taxes from the full price, and, if you finance, your financing is on the full price.

2) Tesla build quality is okay, I would be more concerned about paint quality which would unlikely to improve until Tesla moves production out of California. Both Ford and Tesla have sketchy record of warranty satisfaction.

3) Then the only advantage Model Y may have for you over Ford is that it can tow a trailer from Homedepot or Costco.

4) My guess is that Model Y RWD becomes available only after Austin plant is operational (the end of 2021). So if you looking for the lowest price possible, you may try MME. The only question is if they will make the lowest-priced version before they sell enough other versions to get above the tax credit volume limit.

5) Unlikely. Ford uses MANY suppliers. It is increasingly difficult to integrate various third-party hardware modules into a single software product. I expect Ford will have problems with full-car OTAs similar to what VW experiencing this year.
Model y performance is not cheaper then the mache gt with x plan.
Yes, Tesla sucks at paint. It is still better than on my Honda though (had to RE-paint my car). I've heard that fixing the paint shop for them in CA is unrealistic now. I'm pretty sure they will not repeat same mistakes when building their future plants in Berlin and in Austin. I haven't seen reports of Tesla paint issues in China.

By the way, are Ford vehicles generally good with paint? I saw some older Mustangs almost as bad as Hondas.

I'm referring to the fact we are all in charge of what we purchase and it's up to you as an individual to find any and all ways for an item to be the best price. So please don't try to put words out there that were not said. have a nice day.

You literally said that ‘everyone can get it’ in reply to @AlGee responding to your comment on the GT being cheaper on Xplan. I was simply looking for clarity on that.
Not sure how I’m putting words out there by just looking to clear something up?

Sorry, I totally missed that traditional (aka, government connected) OEMs in US run many completely non-transparent incentives for US buyers (those who are lucky to know about and able to use them), and those incentives are totally out of reach for European customers. This all despite European Ford is WAY better than the US Ford on quality and design (thanks to UK design center). Now, I am bashing Ford for that. That said, how do you order Mach-E in Europe, online?
Yes, it’s been entirely online so far, in the UK at least. I converted my pre-order on Friday and have been given an estimated delivery of between 14-16 weeks. Haven’t spoken to my dealer at all yet. We have a ‘concierge’ for the MME who provides some online help.

Of course there’s been a few glitches but I’m sure they’ll be sorted out.

Final cost is £44,800 and that is with the £3k plug in grant deducted.
I went for the Standard Range AWD in Rapid Red.
