I have. ‘22GT and my 3 year bluecruise is coming up for renewal. Never mind that I did not get the hands free update until 18 months ago…. But what I find really annoying is that sometimes on the high way it just does not come on. Even on clear days with like no traffic it just refuses to turn on. Leaving me with usual cruise control. My windshield is clean. So what gives?

Sounds like a GPS issue. If the car thinks that you’re outside of the ‘blue zone’ (mapped highway) then BC won’t activate.

So what do I do? When I go to Ford service I tell them to fix the GPS? Again this is intermittent. It sometimes works or not on the same stretch of hiway

I would just explain what is happening. They need to figure it out.

As far as I know there is no fix. You can try shutting off the car for 15 minutes so the modules go to sleep and then try again.

So this is a know bug? And I am supposed to pay $450 for another year of this intermittent service. Seriously @Ford Motor Company how does that make any sense? If we are paying for a feature shouldn’t it work all the time?

Your 22 didn’t come with hands free from day 1? That’s odd as mine did and it was a 21 converted to 22.
But yeah I’ve had some intermittent BC activity on major interstates, thankfully it’s been pretty minimal though.
I also agree that $450 a year is way overpriced for my use amount and I’m guessing most others.

You'll need to be a lot more precise than this.

Are you on a stretch of highway where it has worked handsfree before? Note that it will NOT work on highways without a divider down the middle, or ones with cross-streets and traffic lights.

If it's where it worked before, are you driving in the early morning, or late night, with the sun directly in your eyes (and the camera's eyes)? Won't work.

Does the road have lines on both sides of your lane? If yes, are they white or yellow? Not partially painted over? And not obscured by snow, or rain on a dark night?

Are you driving 80mph or less?

This. There are many reasons BCHF might not be activating. Need more specifics.

This is a well marked 3 lane highway that I drive all the time. Blue cruise is intermittent. Some days it works fine and others it will not activate. There is no correlation to sun, rain or time of day. Today it was 11am and cloudy so no weather issues. And it did not turn on. I almost never drive over 80 and today I was going 65. So it’s not speed or weather conditions.

I paid for bluecruise with the car. But the hands free update I didn’t get until the end of 2023 or early 2024. So realistically I paid for 3 years but am really only getting 2 years of hands free unless I update. Which again for a system that is this unreliable ?? C’mon @Ford Motor Company

I have found that driving into the sun (even when it is not particularly low on the horizon) will cause issues with BC.

is there a difference driving the same route during the night and day?

I have found that all though the system's capabilities have improved, it is slower to engage than it originally was. But for me, it is only a slight delay (around 1/4 mile). I've also found that sometimes all I need to do is disengage and then reactivate BC and it will kick in immediately.

I just did a trip yesterday; 42 miles each way. Ever driven in Massachusetts? ? Construction, road seams, lane shifts, people cutting you off without blinkers, some driving 80, some 55. I barely had to touch the steering wheel through any of it and I was doing 70-75, with BC lane changes as well. I was really tired. My reaction time was definitely impaired. The ADAS did exactly what it was designed to do. It assisted. Good Sheeba ?.

I'm sorry the OP is having issues. Maybe contact Ford see if they can run a diagnostic of some kind?

I own a 23 GTPE and use my BC a few times every week on Hwy 95 in Ga. It has worked almost flawlessly except for a few occasions, heavy rain, fog and low setting sun. I will renew when it's time. My only gripe is to stop the lane shift to the left when passing large trucks. The car fits in the lane , don't shift me over to the left, where their may be another large truck on my left.

Have you looked up your stretch of road on the BC map yet? If it's supposed to work there and doesn't, they could theoretically replicate your observation and investigate.
