Just got my 2025 GT on Saturday. My first EV. It had 98% and just doing daily driving - work and errands. I am currently at 62%.

I will be getting a Level 2 installed soon and will use The 110v until then or a public charger if needed.

how often should I charge or how low should I let the battery go? Again this would be for daily driving. For long trips I will follow what the car tells me

any suggestions appreciated

Congrats and welcome!

I'm with RockinVs. I plug in every night, and pretty much any time I am home. I'm still on the 110 as well, hoping to get my L2 installed in a couple weeks - getting my 35-year old home electrical panel replaced on Thursday.

Many threads on this. Plug in when not driving, charge to 90%.

Currently still only have my L1 ford mobile charger to work with for my 2025 MME. I follow the ABC "always be charging" mentality and have the limit set to 85% because I can't commit to 80% or 90% for some reason haha.

Congrats on the new car.

My Rally is my first EV, and I did most of a year on Level 1 only charging to 70%, but I did plug in any time I was home. I now have Level 2 installed, and I still plug in when I am home with a charge limit of 70%. I only push this when I will be doing a longer than normal trip.

If I get home above 70%, I might not plug in. (I have free Level 2 charging available at work.)

Had my car just over 3 years. Charge it nightly up to 90% on a level 2 charger. 100% about once a month due to longer road trips. Battery still seems fine, I've noticed no dip in distance etc...

Due to the upper and lower buffers on the Extended Range battery, 85% indicated is very close to 80% actual SoC, so you done good. 😁🐩

I charge to 85% every night. Since you have the GT, you don't need to worry about charging to 100% now and again, other than if you have a longer trip coming up.

The '24-'25 Select and Premium models have the LFP battery, I believe, which should be charged to 100% once a week, or so...

Whatever percentage you charge to make sure you are using premium electricity. Some of the cheaper blends you may loose power and have some knocks and pings ??. Seriously enjoy your new vehicle!

When my wife drives to and from work, she uses about 10% of the battery. So we set her upper limit to 60% and plug in when she gets home every day. She arrives home with the battery at 50% and it charges each night to 60%.

I saw an Engineering Explained video on EV charging. The expert said, to extend battery life as much as possible, keep your upper limit on the lower end and charge a little bit each day.

That said, the overall difference between doing this and charging to 80% or even 90% is not all that huge. So others believe you should just charge to 80 or 90% and not worry about it.

We have both the Mach E and a Lightning. We're retired and don't rack up many miles, so when either one hits 50% I charge them to 90%. If we're going out of town I charge to 100% the night before we leave.

Charge to 90%. Unless we're leaving for a trip, 100% just before we leave.
