speculation that my rwd sr may just need an ota update for the recall or wishful thinking

This seems like reasonable speculation. A ton of GTs are affected, this really didn't seem to become a widespread issue until after the GT came out ( which was months after the rest of the trims). That said, my SR RWD still shows up with the same outstanding service action that @CarDreams posted. Maybe that's distinct from the recall, which will require the part swap? If only half of MachEs are being recalled, it seems hard to believe the SR RWD would be in that half...

I think that everyone is "affected" until they can actually filter through all the VINs. I'm just going to sit tight and not stress and see what shows up in Ford Pass. Q3 is only a few weeks away (July 1).

Same. It sucks for those who are awaiting delivery of their vehicle. But for the rest of us, unless its a major issue currently (as an individual) it doesn't change much other than limiting DC fast charging and acceleration it seems until a software patch is released and they sort through any actual physical parts that need to be replaced on the vehicle.

My only concern so far has been the "pre-collision" assist going off too much, but I'm not sure if that is the car's fault or Charlotte Drivers. I could turn it off I guess.?

I wouldn't know if "a ton" of GTs are affected, but I do agree that many of the Stop Safely Now reports seemed to come from GT/GTPE owners.

Yes, good point. My comment wasn't meant to overemphasize the prevalence of this issue. From the tracking thread of users reporting the issue, GTs seem to be overly represented (and SR and/or RWD cars seem quite underrepresented).

How and why are you "limiting DC fast charging"? I may have missed information on using the DC Fast charging.

To follow onto this update from @CarDreams, the NHTSA recall notice has been posted at https://www.nhtsa.gov/vehicle/2022/FORD/MUSTANG%2520MACH-E/SUV/AWD#recalls. This has been covered extensively (exhaustively?? ad nauseum??) in the main forums, but the digest version for anyone who doesn't want to wade through the mess is:

1. Descriptive Information: The recalled Secondary On-Board Diagnostic Control Module (SOBDMC) and the Battery Energy Control Module (BECM) software were introduced into production on 05/27/2020 and was taken out of production on 05/24/2022.
2. Defect Description: Direct Current (“DC”) fast charging and repeated wide open pedal events can cause the high voltage battery main contactors to overheat. Overheating may lead to arcing and deformation of the electrical contact surfaces, which can result in a contactor that remains open or a contactor that welds closed.
3. Safety Risk: An overheated contactor that opens while driving can result in a loss of motive power, which can increase the risk of an accident.
4. Cause: The design and part-to-part variation of the high voltage battery main contactor is not robust to the heat generated during DC fast charging and multiple wide open pedal events.
5. Failed components consist of 50 software components.
6. Description of Remedy Program: The remedy for this program is a Secondary On-Board Diagnostic Control Module (SOBDMC) and Battery Energy Control Module (BECM) software update. Ford is anticipated to begin Over-The-Air (OTA) deployment to update the SOBDMC an BECM software for affected vehicles in July 2022. Alternatively, owners will have the option to take their vehicle to a Ford or Lincoln dealer to complete the software update. There will be no charge for this service.
7. Differences between recalled component (software) from remedy component (software): The updated SOBDMC software (LJ98-14G069-AXG, LJ98-14G069-AZG, LJ98-14G069-BBG, LJ98-14G069-BDG) will monitor contactor temperature and intelligently reduce battery power to prevent damage to the contactor. On another, note, I received an email from FoMoCo yesterday (June 14). My delivery has been delayed from June 7 - June 13 to June 14 - June 20. No further information on the vehicle being delivered to dealership at this time or ETA for when it will be released. I am DEFINITELY not going to be hounding Ford or my dealership for a behind-the-scenes update in the midst of the influx of inquiries due to the recall.

I'm guessing I'll be the "last-in, first-out" (i.e., last to get delivered to dealership, but first to get the recall from the dealership). If there's interest, I'll update with any experience on the dealership recall process as a heads up to the rest of the group.

Hopefully, you will get your car soon. It really is a nice vehicle. With the heat wave in the south this week I have been concerned (parking it in the shade, charging at night only, etc.) I was planning on doing this anyway before the recall notice.

I have a trip planned this weekend, but I will avoid D/C fast charging just to be on the safe side.

@Shenred thanks for the recap. But for us girls, I guess it means don't floor it and no fast charging. Keep us informed on ur car. ?

And @CarDreams ...I have u beat for heat down here in Texas.? the weekend b4 we all knew about this recall, I went to the store. I used PAAK to start car as I was leaving the store. Yes, I'm parking at the back of the lot, but no it didn't take me 5 min to get there. But when I got there it wasn't on, even though PAAK told me it was. When I did start the car, temp registered at 107. Now we didn't get to 107, I think that's just how hot the car got next to that sensor. As I drove, it cooled down to 100. Lol. Usually never go on weekends, and usually go early in am after gym. It's on the way?. Soooo, now that recall has shown itself, the weekend makes some kinda sense.

So as it turns out I just DCFC'd my MME the day before the report. It was a pretty hot day as well, but as I was in no particular hurry I didn't do any WOT accelerations on my way home, which was mostly highway and only about 15 miles. To be honest, I haven't really gotten on the throttle in this car. I tend to take it easy on a car until around the 500-1000 mile mark just as a precaution. I know the days of "breaking in" a car are generally behind us, but it just gives me a little peace of mind.

And to think I chose to get a MME because it had been out for over a year and they must have worked out all the kinks...
