I'm about to take this a step farther. Ordered a headlight switch from a Bronco with No Foglights, instead of a max defrost, there's a hatch button. I don't see myself ever using the max defrost over on that side.
Part number: M1PZ11654AA. Pin Number 12 would go to your BCM connection.

edit: the 2021 explorer might have a more accurate picture on the hatch button.

now i haven't bought the switch or taken apart the oem one yet, but interested in doing this. Trying to understand how to wire this 12th pin. is there an exsiting cable there on that pin that i just tap into?

the harness won’t have anything in pin 12. How you pin it is up to how creative you want to be. I used a pack of these (pic below). It’s a harness repair kit. I have to do some digging to find the part number.

looking at the ford explorer parts, what's the difference between the 2 part numbers? ddw vs dcw? color?

which is the right explorer part? trying to find some used ones.

both of those look like it has fog light control, which wouldn’t apply in the Mach E

right in the middle of the headlight knob.
see. i am blind. Lol.

but on another note, it shoudln't affect me just pulling out the liftgate button right? Mines a gtpe so i woudln't be swaping the entire unit.

You’d be a pioneer in that effort lol. I won’t be home until next week to even investigate swapping that portion.

But you don't need that, all you need is the button with the hatch symbol on it, right? You pop that switch out and exchange it with the one in the MME's assembly, which does not have the fog light symbol. That Explorer part should work fine, right @markboris?

I think I am going to order one since this is on my mod to-do list.

Theoretically, it should work the same was as taking the Traction control button off the GT switch and adding it to the bronco switch as I did.

OK, I'm taking the plunge and doing this mod. I ordered a Bronco (no foglights) switch yesterday.

I think I have the same question as Mark:
Do I replace the entire MME assembly with this one, adding a wire to pin 12 that taps into the brown wire on the harness, or do I open each assembly and pull the subswitch dedicated to the hatch and put that into the original MME assembly?

I also am wondering if anyone knows what gauge wire is used in the original harness -- I'm going to buy a tap and want to make sure I get a correct size.

Thanks in advance...

I'm not sure exactly what is being asked here and am kind of confused with what krazieboy is trying to do. In any case I did the same as what Pat (i8iridium) did and purchased the Bronco headlamp switch (M1PZ-11654-AA) removed the liftgate button from that switch, and replaced the Max Defrost switch in my GTPE headlamp switch with that one. Ran a wire from position 12 on the connector to the BCM. #57

The only thing you are using from the Bronco headlamp switch is the liftgate sub switch which detaches from the main switch assembly. On the Mach-E headlamp switch (mine is a GTPE) I removed the Max Defrost sub switch and replaced it with the liftgate sub switch. They are both interchangeable. Run a pin/wire out of the empty 12 position hole on the back of the headlamp connector. The wires on the headlamp connector are 20 and 22 gauge so either one will work.

The main issue is to make sure you tap into the correct wire at the BCM which I have shown in the first post of this thread #1

This is helpful - I have a Select with no traction control switch, so it deceptively (?) looks like a one/one swap between the Sport and MME if I did the wire mod for position 12.

Sounds like I should maybe just pop out the subassembly in case there's a harness difference between the Bronco and MME for this item. Don't want to fry anything if the wires are mapped differently (unless someone has access to the Bronco Sport wiring diagram and can confirm they are otherwise identical.)
