@benk016 Is cruise still unavailable today? I had a weird fault once that after sitting for a couple hours cleared itself. Sorry if you already said, but I didn’t see.
I went out and tried it over my lunch break and its back to working today. So sitting over night did something to bring it back.

Its also weird that the car wouldn't charge over night either. FordPass shows it added 2 miles of range charging, but the EVSE reports no power was delivered at all. Last night it showed it would start charging at 11pm like usual.

Weird, sounds almost like what would happen if you pulled the plug and let a device sit there with no power for a while to fully clear the memory for a clean boot.

I’m neither a Tesla fan boy, nor an MME one. Just a middle aged bloke who wants reliable and fun transportation who likes to keep my car well maintained and keep it for a long time. I’m not the kind that switches cars every four years. My current transport is a 2006 Acura TL. I like both the Y (for the flawless software and the fun drive) and the MME for aesthetically pleasing lines, better interior and the fun drive. I’m truly torn. Had almost made up my mind about the MME but having serious second thoughts after OP’s post and other posts about software glitches. $55 k is a lot of change.

Wait a minute! You gained miles and didn't provide any power? You broke physics! You've unlocked perpetual energy!

I guess we'll take the Taycan off of Vaca's potential EV purchase list too. It's unfortunate. I'd assume Tesla's too since a couple of them have caught on fire from the batteries having issues. What are left with at this point? I guess the Leaf, since that one poster didn't say his Leaf has shut down on him, then again he just never replied to vaca as well so who knows.

Edit: lol ok so I guess they saw my post and chimed in afterwards. I guess the Leaf is on the table for Vaca then.
Leaf doesn't even have active cooling for the battery. Talk about a deal breaker.

Not sure if you're replying to me? I'm not referencing you in any of my comments except the one where I had originally said you didn't comment back to vaca about your Leaf, and then right after I put that you commented about your Leaf. Otherwise I haven't been referring to you about anything (just wondering because of the Tesla fanboy reference I made before).

Understood. I’m just piggy backing on Vaca‘a original post and airing my angst about a choice that I need to make.

Which flawless software is that? Not trying to sound jerky here but the Y also has the known issue where the screen freezes/goes black and needs a reboot via pulling both stalks or something to come back up. You know, the big screen that controls everything. Car and Driver even had it happen to them in the Y/Mach E comparison. I bet that’s fun when you’re on the highway.
And don’t go into Tesla forums seeking info on the Y because you’ll be having second, third and fourth thoughts after that. Tesla is still having major problems just screwing the damn things together, the most basic part of manufacturing.

Don't understand the 'need' to make the 'correct' decision. I have made a lot of mistakes. For a long time I was nursing along a Ford Contour SVT. What a mistake. Anyone remember that one. Loved the drive/handling but what a poorly designed machine.

I don't know which launches you were there for but I was there for the, Tundra, Element, Rav4-EV, Volt, I3, Etron and now Mache launch, just last 20 years I can remember. There is nothing really wildly different here. In fact it looks like the Mach-E is a remarkably reliable car and hence the reason everyone is going after the software. BTW my launch edition Tundra easily takes the prize for least reliable car.

It doesn't look like you have your Mach-E yet, so why get all worked up. Drive it, if it gives you problems, get rid of it. Life is short, make decisions move on, change your mind, change your decision, move on...

Like if you prefer the Model Y, nobody but the most devout here is going to get upset. Personally I had a Y ordered until initial reviews for the Mach E were released.

But if your “busy lifestyle” can’t afford glitches and loss of functionality?

Bro….
I actually traded in my Model Y for the Mach-E as I couldn't deal with all the defects the Y had. Granted it was an early build and the quality has gotten better, but the Mach-E just fits my needs to much better. But Tesla does a fantastic job on the software side and the battery management side. I do hope that Ford will get better, but they do have to get their dealers onboard as EVs are clearly the future.

if adaptive cruise becomes unavailable for some reason (sensor blocked or whatever) instead of reverting to normal cruise, Ford likes to disable cruise entirely. If all else fails, go into the settings and change your cruise control from adaptive/intelligent to normal and you can at least use that. Works on the Mach e too.
Good to know. Thanks for posting this.

I'm sorry this happened and glad it didn't present a safety issue. As unfortunate as it is, it is helpful to hear about issues and hear other's suggestions in case it happens to someone else. Will be interested in hearing if you are able to charge tonight. Makes me rethink my own charging patterns, since I don't hesitate to let the available range get below 50% before I charge overnight.

Just be careful this forum doesn't start eating itself. There was a very nice Tesla forum they killed because the arguing over people wanting to post about issues, got stupid. If someone wants to point out an issue, really just shut the fuck up and let them. If you can help out or add something non-stupid, do it.
Wait a minute: that is not what is going on.

Nobody is jumping on him because he had a problem with his car and wants to let everyone know it. He is posting about his anxiety related to what might happen to his theoretical car if he indeed ever bought one. Anxiety is fine and understandable, but he has gone well beyond expressing concerns - he is espousing expertise with no apparent basis, and extrapolating his fears into nonsense which he then uses as evidence.

That type of thing then leads to...

Understood. I’m just piggy backing on Vaca‘a original post and airing my angst about a choice that I need to make.

But then you mentioned that your EVs has had no problems. Well, there are thousands of MME owners who've had great experiences with their cars. This is a forum, and people come to forums to complain. Just visit any one of the Tesla forums and you'll see the same amount of complaining. That's just the nature of car forums.
