Are other EVs this bad?

Oh yeah, they've still got $billions sunk into Blue Oval City (TN/KY) and Blue Oval Battery Park (MI). They'll be using those cells for a lot more than hybrids. And of course there's the skunkworks team *trying* to develop low cost EVs. And the existing MME/Lightning/eTransit lines that are still going. (Plus a bit more going in Europe.) This isn't an all-or-nothing thing, just a less-than-previously-planned thing. With more shift to hybrids this decade than previously planned.

You just said something that caught my attention.

The message from the app just said the battery was being drained - likely from 3rd party after market device. Then the car went dead as far as the app is concerned But it didn’t say which battery.

If it was just the 12v battery, what are the ramifications? Would that cause the app to not be able to “see” the car? How would I get that 12v battery recharged?

I’m positive the car was off - it loudly alerts when you open the door and the car is still on. I wasn’t in a rush (this time). And it initially showed a charging error on the app.

all EVs have tiny 12v (or 16v) batteries... you can not leave things like a dashcam on or you will drain the 12v battery quickly.

While it is something that has not been widely reported on, it is 100% feasible to plug in to charge and have the 12v die. Two things I have personally seen are bad chargers and not fully plugging in the charge handle. Both will keep the vehicle awake without charging and thus kill the 12v.

So one of these is a problem with charging hardware and the other is operator error. Neither is a sign the vehicle is terrible.

Broken gas nozzles and failing to insert a gas nozzle properly has two likely results:
1. Gas tank doesn’t fill
2. Gas spills all over the ground (and maybe people)

Neither is a reason to ask if all gas vehicles are this bad.

isn’t there a CSP open and at least one TSB about modules failing to sleep and potentially draining the 12V battery? the CSP requires an SOBDM update so it seems like it could be related to L2 charging. possibly OP got bit by one of these issues.

For what it's worth, I've had my Mach-e for over 3 years and have had no problems. On longer trips I do drive in the granny lane, it's remarkable how that improves the range. I hope your experience improves.

it’s been downhill from there - broken mobile charger that ford won’t replace, range under 200 miles, and getting stranded at the airport because the public charger provided drained the battery instead of charging it.

I’m definitely done with Ford, but I’m wondering if other EVs have these same issues. Anyone have any experience with Hyundai or any other EV makers? I won’t do Tesla- I don’t need the public blow-back.

I’m wondering if I should give another EV model a try, or just go back to ICE cars because maybe EV technology hasn’t come far enough to produce an every-day reliable car. Thoughts?

You need a Tesla. It's the beginners EV. After you are done with it you can move up to the Big Leagues like with the MachE. Ionic and so on......

well unless ford made a mistake, the CSP applies to my 24GT. i just had it applied at the dealer. should have asked for an FDRS dump before whatever they did.

the doorjamb sticker on my 24 says it was manufactured in 11/24, so i assume that must be job2.
