3. Switch on the ready to drive mode.

OK, what's "ready to drive" mode?

Is it just me, or do lots of these owner's manual instructions, well... suck? Gotta read the most basic stuff 2-3 times to really grasp what they're saying, and they leave out the important stuff. Like, where and how to actually jump the car!

Friend had his escape battery split open across the top in the first year of ownership. Makes one wonder about the supplier...

This does make me wonder - for the self-sufficient types who carry a portable jump starter with them, how would we make that work in a scenario like this? Specifically, if you can't get to it in the trunk should the battery die, then is there even a point to owning one? (Other than being a good samaritan for someone else...)

This is so simple!

you would call a tow truck to give you jump. pay at least $50 after waiting 2 hours (10 hours in winter) then get the cable from the trunk/front cargo area . Then find someone to give you jump

It really is not that hard for crying out loud!

I just had my Mach E battery go dead yesterday at only 27°F. I trickle charged it back to life (disconnected the negative cable and attached trickle charger from positive jump port to negative terminal on the battery. After reconnecting the negative lead it started back up.

It's now at the dealer to have diagnostics run on it.

Remember the Mach E comes with free roadside assistance, including jump starts.

Thank you everyone for the responses and help. I've had this portable jump starter for two years and never used it for my ICE cars. Just had it and charged ready to go. I opened the front bumper panel, connected the reds and blacks, frunk opened. Then the fun part began. Taking off the back panel then windshield washer side panel. What a pain in the ass. Two of the clips are now somewhere under the hood for the back panel.

Jump started a car, my very first time, and she came back to life. HOWEVER, now I have the same powertrain issue Savage has. Made appointment with dealer already online. Thank you again everyone!! Will update when my dealer figures it out.

Updated with info on unlocking vehicle if 12v battery dies - posted by @ay221

How to unlock my vehicle if the 12 volt battery is dead? You must apply 12 volt power to the 12 volt system -- directions:
Jump Starting the Vehicle

Original post:

Temps in MM have gone down to -22 degrees. I left the MME plugged in all night to charge and went to leave just now and it's a brick. Can't get in, can't do anything. Ford App says deep sleep in effect. How do I wake it?!
Oh man, this sucks! Sorry!! @ChasingCoral had his battery die as well - maybe for different reasons.

This has been debated ad nauseum on the forum including folks thinking of ways to hide a small starter outside under the vehicle somewhere. I even started a thread on this. Never expected to be discussing this the first weeks of ownership. Frustrating to just see all these issues and I cant image being in the owners shoes.
