I have a 2022 that came with two kwys. How do you tell which is the "original" remote?
I believe #1 and #2 are interchangeable, as long as they both are preprogrammed.

But, I couldn’t get my 3rd to program today. Just says key programming failed. So maybe I’m not the best source of information.

The comment about "Original" key and "Second" key applies only to 2021 Job 1 and 2021 Job 1-1/2 (Job 2 cars that were only shipped with one key) cars. A week or so into the 2021 Job 2 run Ford started shipping two keys with each car. ??

Thanks, that makes sense!

I just programmed mine today and it worked. You are correct, they are interchangeable. Where did you buy it from? I ordered from keylessentryremotefob.com and I had to install a battery (I apparently missed the fact it didn't include one). ? On a side note, I was able to move the back Mustang logo from the old key fob to the new one. Now my backup key fob has the Ford logo.

I followed instructions found at:

Did anyone receive a ship notification after buying from the link above?
I ordered a week ago and got the order confirmation, but the product hasn’t shipped yet.
I ordered on March 27th. I never got a shipment notification, but the key showed up this past Saturday.

While trying to program the new key, and several failures, I managed to trigger a "Stop Safely Now" error condition. And plugging the car into charge resulted in a charge failure message. Locked the car, went in the house, waited 15 minutes, came back out, started the car, and the error was gone. I was then greeted by a "You've gotten an update to 4.2.3" message on the Infotainment screen. Between all the Start Button presses, and a pending update, I guess the car got really confused. Car is charging now.

All seems well. And I have a Frunk button on my key fob...

I finally got my 3rd FOB programmed. For anyone who runs into trouble, I believe what got me working was a reboot of sync. And then repeating the pairing process steps.

I don't often have to reboot my sync, so it wasn't top of mind, but for everyone else ---- at the sign of something not working, the first troubleshooting step should always be reboot the center screen.

For anyone that gets tired of the Truck tailgate button, you can use the button from an ICE Mustang like this. Mine just came in today and works perfectly with the key without any special modifications.

I got one and did the button swap yesterday. The new trunk button is a little tighter in the slot so it can get a little stuck. I haven't figured out best where to shave it down though, because they appear almost identical in size.

I ran into the same issue last night, too. I shaved down the all the sides, including the raised button area. Seems to be fitting better now.

Got mine today, followed the steps, got the message that the key fob paired successfully, but the new fob doesn't work. Any suggestions?

Try changing the battery? It would still pair with a dead (or no) battery.

I bought a battery with the remote, still in the wrapper, but will try swapping out a battery from one of the other remotes.

So, my 3rd key programmed successfully. However, the frunk button does not work. All the other buttons work fine. I have a 2021 Mach-E that I assume is a job one. Purchased in early July of 2021. Any suggestions?
