Only use the key fob. Never had any issues with it at all. While I can’t speak to issues with PAAK never having used it, there are a lot of threads here about issues with it.

Just started using Mobile Key today - everytime I get near the garage, I get a notification on my phone that it woke the car up.

Is it true that, those "wake-ups" have an impact on the battery?

With that said, do you use the mobile key? Is it reliable? Appreciate the input.
yes, I've used it since I got my '21.
It's very reliable..... However, you should consider:

- either turning off Bluetooth, or 'force-stop' FordPass, on your phone when you are home to let your epony sleep.

- wrap your Fob in foil, and hide it somewhere inside the cabin to use in emergency, and/or valet parking

- learn your door pillar code, and your on-screen passcode, in case you lose your phone.

No point or use for PAAK (unless you are a gamer). Especially in association w/ FordPass.
Have not heard of any problem w/ FOB. Been using FOB for 20+ years. Fairly certain others have been using FOB longer.
The point is to not have to carry the big ass FOB around in my pocket! I’ve always used PAAK and have only had to use the door code and start passcode once in 2.5 years and that was last weekend following the latest OTA update.

Incredible as it may seem, not everyone is controlled by their master. Although free thinker numbers seem to be diminishing........

I stopped using PAAK and turned off the puddle lamps in order to preserve 12v battery charge back when 2023 models were having the mysterious lock out problems. It appears that recent OTA updates were meant to fix this problem, so is it safe to resume using PAAK and the puddle lamps again?
I have a 23 model and never stopped using paak and the puddle lights, so from my experience it's safe.

The point for me is that I hate the unnecessarily large fob. I wear jeans for work, phone in one front pocket, wallet in the other. That giant fob is uncomfortable.

I've used PAAK essentially exclusively since day 1 with my 21 Job 1. PAAK has definitely improved since the beginning. Pretty much my only issue is that FordPass will sometimes close in the background, which disables PAAK until I reopen the app. I've used the door code/passcode 2 or 3 times. I likely would have had a fob battery failure right around now, so it's good to setup that option even if you use a fob.

As someone else mentioned, you do have to remember the fob for service visits.

Thank you to everyone that replied. I'm in a much better place now with my PAAK.

I recently replaced my phone and was trying not to use it as PAAK, but it turned out you have to setup PAAK to be able to use the controls in the FordPass app for the trunk, frunk, and windows. I am back in the PAAK camp.

I use my fob, but still the lights come on many times an evening as my carport is near my kitchen window. I haven't had an problem at all in the 5 months I have owned the car.

I was using the fob while waiting for FordPass to update to fix the phone battery drain issue in iOS 18. The car just works better with the fob. Specifically, the door pillar lock icon works every time. Welcome lighting also works every time. Definitely not so with the PaaK. Door opening from locked on the first button press is nice, too.

Even after the update, FordPass will background close for me every other day or so, which I usually discover when the car won’t unlock while standing next to it in a parking lock repeatedly pressing the door button.
