I've spoken to about 10 dealers now... wow... the markup on the EV6 is just off the charts. $25K, $23K, $15K, $7K (one day special).

Big pass. This car was supposed to fill the itch while my Mach-E GTPE is built. At those markups I might as well buy a marked up GTPE now.
If they don't have them they're just fishing. I did see $7K at the local dealers for an Ioniq 5 though. I'll just sit on the MME order, maybe until the 2023's come out but I'm not in a rush.

Oh they have them. They asked me to take a test drive but I’ve been stuck in virtual meetings most of this week.

I’m taking a look at a steel matte grey first edition tomorrow. I know the markup will be $15K but the salesperson wants to make a sale down the line when new cars arrive.

Who in their right mind wouldn't jump at the opportunity to pay $24,995 now, for the convenience of not having to pull out the checkbook during that first, dealer recommended EV oil change at 3,500 miles?

Generous dealer, they are. That nitrogen fill in the tires goes a long way. I heard they've already donated 78% of their tire nitrogen supply to local schools in support of cleaner, clearer breathing with less of the harmful oxidation.

Just got arrival date - Mar 12 - from Kia dealer on GT-Line red awd ev6. So far the dealer has not been adding markup.

My MME order from Oct 4 has still not be scheduled for production.

If March 12 comes, I go drive the EV6 and find it compares well, and there is no word from Ford - I think I am going with EV6.

If I get word from Ford soon on my order, then things get tough. I also ordered a dark matter gray MME and after seeing that color, I think it is too dark for my taste.

What gets me is that Ford does not have to do things this way... they could be open and honest and tell me I am number 3450 out of 7545 in the queue. Instead we have the Byzantine system of order priority, which I cannot see, and that priority can be jumped by something else, and we don't get to see ourselves move through the queue.

Even if you get a production date, you’re still in for a long wait. I was notified of a January 17 production date back in November. The car has been “in production” since then, with an estimated delivery that went from March 20th to June 18th two weeks ago. You’re not getting that car anytime soon.

That is my fear of the longevity of Paint on a 2015 Kia (7 years old). I hope they have resolved these problems on the newer cars..... Only my word of caution on Kia/Hyundai products in the Northeast. My Ioniq EV (2019), has shown corrosion and rust beginning on internal body panels within the first 12 months and 10,000 miles.
I unfortunately can corroborate this story. My Stinger suffered from very brittle paint and within months looked like a chipwich on the hood. To Kia’s credit, they admitted fault and paid to have the hood and fenders repainted at no cost to me.

Test drove two EV6s - Wind RWD and Wind AWD.

WOW!

I'm less certain I will be buying a Mach-E GTPE now. This EV6 is something else. I've always wanted a light/nimble EV with plenty of acceleration... rather than a EV than I can feel the weight of(Model Y, Ioniq 5, etc). The suspension is smooth as the Ioniq 5 also.

The dealers.. ugh. $20K markup. They lowered it to $10K for me and then offered an insane amount for my 2022 Model Y trade in. I have 24 hours to decide.

I need to test drive a Mach-E GTPE to confirm I am making the right choice.

Just asked local dealer about EV6, he said he expects 3 AWD GT-Line models in March, and I put my name on the list for one of them.

I'm still waiting to be scheduled for production from an Oct order. If I am not scheduled for production by the time this EV6 arrives, and the EV6 does not have any crazy last minute markups... I might be switching.

Premium AWD ext battery and GT-Line AWD both have similar range and similar 0-60 numbers. But the EV6 has:
+ quicker charging (not a huge deal to me)
+ vented seats, heated rear seats
+ sunroof opens
+ I think ground clearance is a touch higher?
- smaller storage spaces
- not as cool as the mustang

Am I missing other things?
Yes, with an extended battery the MME has more range. Hopefully, the competition causes ford to go 800v in the next few years.

Drove by the Kia dealership, the only 2 cars on the lot were EV6's.

I really like the look of it. This is a weird dealership, in a good way, and I think they may sell at sticker. I'll stop by in the near future.

Edit: Checked their website. Looks like a $5K markup as they list the MSRP $5K too high. Never mind the above, maybe not so good of a dealership after all.

I don't think the range is really that far off between the two. It is within 5 miles for premium awd er vs the ev6 gt-line awd. And if the 800V units can charge twice as fast, I think the choice would be simple for longer road trips.

I did look up the rating but EV's rating and real world seem to differ from manufacture to manufacture.

At any rate, faster charging is a definite advantage but I am not gonna make a change because from everything I read there will be many innovations in EV's in the next 10 years.

In the 3 state areas where I live there are two DC chargers over 50kw so not a factor without the infrastructure

The 2022 AWD RT1 is rated at 312 according to Ford's website. The AWD EV6 GT-Line is, I think 265. The RWD is 303. Tire size must make a damn huge difference on MPG.

It's made up by the privilege of pulling out your checkbook to buy a charging cable.

So the two similar cars above are off by 9 miles? And one charges twice as fast and has a heat pump? I don’t see this as advantageous to MME.
